Very amusing, you made me laugh. the issue of nomenclature is by no means the most peculiar aspect of Lord Celeborn’s presentation in the Journal....

Hopefully I can now finsh my work, but I have a feeling this will be a long night...

Now, that's very good to hear! I wasn't at all sure the academic humour would translate. :D Thanks for reading, as ever, and for commenting!

Oh dear, that sounds as though something's gone wrong? I hope nothing too serious?

No, nothing is wrong. I am freelance translator and have a deadline looming.

I tried to follow the link you posted at SoA for the original work in which this is inspired but it didn't work... Srsly, this is dangerously hilarious stuff!

Thanks so much for letting me know about the broken links; that will teach me to be lazy and just c&p when it comes to uploading to archives. I've scampered round and fixed it now, so if you want to download Mrs Jeffreys' journal -- which does have some rather fascinating bits and pieces in it, like the way the Portuguese used to dispose of their dead -- it should take you to the right page.

And it's great to hear you're finding this funny! I really did not think that the humour would translate at all, so it's wonderful to hear otherwise. Thank you! :D

Poor Teleporno ... I mean Celeborn ... :)

Again, this one definitely has me excited about reading more!

"Teleporno" really is an awful name, isn't it? :D

The rest of this should come in rather more substantial chunks -- I had intended to post the first proper bit pretty soon, but then the reaction to this parts was surprisingly enthusiastic (I didn't expect anyone but myself to be amused by the thing), so the rest is in the process of being revised and expanded. Hum.

Thanks for reading and commenting, anyway! I hope you do enjoy the rest. ^^

I couldn't help but snicker when I got to the notes at the end. I admit this may have had something to do with note 3 ... Teleporno is a name, I feel, destined to make me snicker every time it pops up.

Ahaha, wonderful! Snickering is precisely the right reaction. :D And Teleporno really is such an awful name, you can see why Celeborn would resent acquiring it...

Oh, completely! =D

Is Teleporno a name from Unfinished Tales somewhere? I've not read that in a while and the name looks familiar.

Yes, it turns up in a couple of the fragmentary and maddeningly diverse UT histories of Celeborn and Galadriel. The challenge of writing a story about those versions while still maintaining Silmarillion canon (always my preferred version) was one of the things that got me writing this piece to start with. :D
