// This was a trip through history from a non-Noldor pov, which I really enjoyed. I like the Noldor, but I empathize a lot more with the rest.//
Oh, me too! I'm glad you enjoyed this -- it's the first thing I wrote (if you're using the masterlist, you'll be reading almost in order of writing, except for the things in the various collections) and I wrote it really as a template for the other things I was thinking of writing. Well, perhaps not so much a template as a place to start from and a way to start collecting significant props, especially that tapestry. It's a bit disconcerting to realise just how long ago I wrote this; as I remember, I had a 16-hour flight and only the Silmarillion to read, so my grasp of the world isn't that impressive, I promise. (And has faded rather since then.)
I know I have read and enjoyed your fics in the past; I can't remember if I reviewed at the time, though (and if I didn't, I apologise!). I've drifted from fandom generally in the last couple of years, so I'm rather out of touch. Sometimes I get guilt pangs, but so far not strong enough ones to pull me back in.
// And I meant to ask, and never mind if it's too nosy: Are you a weaver? //
It's not nosy at all. I have a vague grasp of the basic principles of weaving, but what I'm really into is dyeing and spinning; I took a course on ancient textiles a few years ago and kept up the interest. Making fabric is one of those things we don't really think about now, but back before industrialised production it was seriously labour-intensive. I always like the bit with Galadriel and her women weaving those cloaks - it's the sort of thing you get in ancient epics, "here: have these clothes I made for you myself!", and it doesn't necessarily strike you as an impressive gift until you realise those clothes may represent months of work. So this is a pet interest of mine, but a relevant one. So I tell myself. :'D
