Chagrin Valley, more of the same.

So this morning my face still feels awesome, like I just exfoliated with a gentle scrub or something. This Rhassoul Yogurt bar wins!

My hair is a little different than the first washing -- it's a little bit oilier and heavier and feels sort of like your hair might feel if you use a leave-in conditioner. It's still quite clean and smells wonderful, but probably wouldn't hold up to any aerodynamic styling today. My scalp isn't the least bit oily, which is the main thing that matters to me. Here's the real kicker, though -- I went to bed with damp hair and I left it down. Ordinarily behavior like this would result in my having to spend thirty minutes with a bottle of detangler and a hairbrush. But I woke up this morning and just...ran a brush through my hair. No tangles, no knots, no frizz, nothing. Seriously, this is different. Even when I use my palm-sized dollop of deep conditioning treatment -- even right after I color my hair (which is when it's infused with 10,000 protective layers of chemical goop and is the softest and shiniest it ever is) -- I have more trouble brushing my hair than I did this morning. So I'm still quite, quite pleased with how this is going.

So more updates as this progresses. I'll probably use an apple cider vinegar rinse the next time I shampoo, just to make sure I'm neutralizing any soap residues in my hair and rinsing them clean.

For those who asked about my hair type, I have baby-fine hair that is naturally oily, though the fact that I color-treat my hair tends to make it dry out about week four or so after I use the hair dye. The most difficult thing to manage about my hair tends to be the length and the fact that it tangles easily, which means that I typically use whatever shampoo I wish and then splurge on the conditioners that make my hair happy. I've been using a clarifying shampoo (Pantene, I think) for the last couple of months, which might be making the transition period into the Chagrin Valley products a bit easier; however, the fact that I use leave-in conditioning treatments about once per week might counteract the benefits of a clarifying shampoo.

I don't use any styling products, no curling irons, etc.

As far as the simplistic website, I have to admit that I tend to be wooed by more polished web design and, had I not had the glowing recommendation and referral from synique, I'd have never ordered from C.V. online. (Which is a bit amusing, since I wouldn't think twice about buying products like these in a health-food/natural living store or at a craft fair but, yes, something about Internet shopping leads me to "trust" vendors that have snazzier web design.) But honestly, if they'd rather devote their energy to making these soaps than sprucing up their website, I'm totally cool with that. :)

good things: luxuries, health: skin care
