1.WHAT DID YOU DO IN 2009 THAT YOU'D NEVER DONE BEFORE?
Worked in a real lab, used truly dangerous chemicals/devices, won a science grant, started lab work that might actually answer questions no one knows the answers to, LOVED chemistry, failed a final because I partied too much the night before (but at least passed the class with a C+ anyways), planned wedding stuff, cried at a wedding, had my partner host a party at our place without helping him out at all and enjoyed not doing any work and still having people over!
2. DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEARS' RESOLUTIONS, AND WILL YOU MAKE MORE FOR NEXT YEAR?
Nope, and nope.
3. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU GIVE BIRTH?
I don't think so, last year several people did, and this year some more are preggers, but no births.
4. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU DIE?
Too many horses, but no people (Thank everything!) and all the horses were ancient or otherwise very ready to move on to their next life. Part of working at a rescue, not all of them make it.
5. WHAT COUNTRIES DID YOU VISIT?
Just the USA, and its territories.
6. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE IN 2010 THAT YOU LACKED IN 2009?
A clean and organized house, a college degree, a job that pays me a respectable salary, a grad school plan!
7. WHAT DATES FROM 2009 WILL REMAIN ETCHED UPON YOUR MEMORY AND WHY?
I'm terrible at actual dates, but Mike's proposal was very memorable and I will always remember it!
8. WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR?
Getting a lab internship in the lab I wanted, even though everyone told me not to bother because that lab almost never takes undergrads and I wasn't qualified anyways. Talking Mike into getting a cat (and I was SO right, he loves Mr Mewton a ridiculous amount and is the one who always talks about missing him when we travel!).
9. WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST FAILURE?
I don't know, I'm trying not to dwell. I'm not handling our money very well, but hopefully I can recover before it's a true failure!
10. DID YOU SUFFER ILLNESS OR INJURY?
Ugh, the first half of fall semester I got the seasonal flu, then swine flu, and couldn't miss class or work so I was basically a Typhoid Mary. I hated that!
11. WHAT WAS THE BEST THING YOU BOUGHT?
A cat, the cat's heated bed, our wedding rings, our new car that can actually be driven in the snow!
12. WHOSE BEHAVIOUR MERITED CELEBRATION?
Mike, for managing to surprise me with a ring and romantic proposal after we were already engaged, and for generally putting up with my chaos and holding me together through all the stress of work, school, and living so close to so much family while planning a wedding! Alyssa, for really managing to hold herself together in the wake of so much tragedy, I don't think she could have done that even a year ago and I'm really proud of her. Emma, for stepping out on a limb and landing herself a man! I think she's blossomed so much this year, I wish I'd seen more of her! Greg, for FINALLY marrying Shana. Ashley and Robert and Carrie and Misha and Val for deciding that we should all be friends, and putting in a ton of effort to make that happen in spite of how busy we all are and how far away we live from one another. Cassandra, for adopting the horse I fell in love with and being so gracious as to share her with me and ask my advice, which is unheard of in the horse world! You all rock!
13. WHOSE BEHAVIOUR MADE YOU APPALLED AND DEPRESSED?
My mom, I love her dearly but she fell apart a bit this year, but I'm also really proud of her for pulling herself back up so quickly each time, which she's never been able to do before.
14. WHERE DID MOST OF YOUR MONEY GO?
Yummy food, wedding crap, the house and all its repairs!
