how do you like your blueeyed boy/ mr Death?

I wish I had money for books! e.e. cummings would be on the top of my list, followed by "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" and some short stories that I haven't read but want to!

For the first time in my life, I am feeling a true money pinch, and it's scary but also strangely comforting. I drive over 300 mi/week, at 24 mi/ gallon, which means I buy about 13 gallons of gas a week. With gas at $3.47 right now, that's $200 a month on gas! My gas budget is $70 a month, so I've been pulling from my $50 'allowance' and still having to take from grocery. And groceries are more expensive, too, so I literally ran out of money on April 15th, on a budget that should have, according to my March 15th calculations, lasted through June 1st!
On the other hand, my parents are our landlords, so we're paying the rent late this month at it's all ok. Mike has a good job, and will start full time for the summer, and we both have some savings and some parental support so we're not worried about having to chose between groceries and gas for driving to work. We might not be going to San Diego to see my cousins and their babies this summer as planned, but we're not falling into debt, either. So, by any and all standards of living, we are doing quite well!

I'm really excited to go to Tasmania!!!!!!
My sister is so funny! She's on the rugby team, so I'm hoping they're not eliminated yet and I can go cheer her on! I guess the teams are by 'college' (dorm) so she's in John Fisher, the international college, with a lot of Canadians, a couple other Americans, and a whole bunch of Thai kids, and her coach is infinitely frustrated with how little any of them know about the sport!
I'm also trying to plan my arrival around her gospel choir performance, because she keeps saying how hard it is for the Tassie kids to do an American accent, and their conductor insists that they sing gospel like Americans. Haha! Endless entertainment!
I need to figure out where I'm staying, and how long to rent a car for (so we can drive around the island, no one at UTAS has a car, so she hasn't had a chance to see much outside of Hobart). They have 'Rent a Bug' for international travelers under 25 to rent old VW Beetles, since no other companies allow it. Guess there's only so much you can increase the insurance on a 1st generation beetle!
I'm worried about the flight, though. It's Denver to San Fran, to Melbourne, to Hobart. The San Fran to Melbourne flight alone is over 15 hours (closer to 17, I think)! And it's still over 2 hrs to Tassie from there! LONG 3 days :-) So if I leave on a Monday morning, I'd get there sometime on Thursday or Friday. Could she have chosen a university any farther away???
