oom: stupid V-Day

Feb 14, 2009 10:28

Yesterday was not good.

Today was not looking promising, either.

Zexion got out of bed once since returning - to bathe, change his bandages (he needed fresh ones again) and then get right back into bed. There he remained, covers pulled firmly over his head. It looked like one of the Bad Days, as he seemed to have no intention of moving.

The door to the room opened, a tray in Lexaeus's gloves as he made his way into the room.

"You are awake."

Zexion shifted just slightly under the covers, as if making an attempt to deny that statement by feigning sleep. He thought better of it a moment later.

"...I'm not hungry. I'm just tired." he tried, instead.

"Food provides energy," he pointed out, as solid and unyielding as a rock. He put the tray of food down next to the bed.

Zexion pulled the bedsheets down just a very little bit, enough to peer at Lexaeus from the shadows that the blankets cast. His hair was mussed from laying down before it was fully dry.

"...I can get my own food of I'm hungry, you know." he pointed out, trying to ignore the smell of the food and the reminder that he hadn't eaten yet today.

"You could. I did it already. It would be rather pointless."

Damn your logic, Spock.

Zexion stayed under the covers for just a little bit longer, under protest, before he sat up and let them pool around his waist as he fought for further wakefulness.

"...Thank you."

"You're welcome," and he sat down nearby to make sure Zexion ate it.

He poked at the food idly for a bit before giving in to the hunger over the lack of appetite. It was a curious and unpleasant feeling to have both at once.

"...I had nightmares again last night." he says without really knowing why he felt the need to inform Lexaeus. The other likely knew anyway.

"I had assumed as such, but didn't want to bring it up incase I was wrong. Further, there's not much I can do about it."

He watched Zexion eat without anything else to say.

To a certain extent the words hurt. Would Aeleus have embraced him, given him soft words that really would not have made a difference in the long run? It didn't matter. It didn't matter. Zexion ate in otherwise silence, trying to find that cold place inside of himself again. Protect yourself with apathy.

Better to not feel at all, then be hurt. Being hurt is just an emotional reaction, not a logical one.

"I hate today."
