mmm, mocha

Currently sipping my daily mocha. I should cut back on those...but yum.

Weekend went well. Drove up to Tally on Friday evening. Had some trouble leaving Orlando since I was out of toll money and needed to take the turnpike to get up north. So, I had to make a detour and cash a checked I made out to myself at a supermarket (it was past 5, so Bank of America was closed). Anyway, that gave me some cash and I was able to take the toll roads without problem. You may be asking why I didn't use an ATM machine...but that is a long story. Suffice to say, I'm going downstairs today (this is the Bank of America building afterall) and getting a temp ATM card until they get their system worked out and send me a new check card. So, got into Tallahassee a little before 11, but pretty much stayed up until 4 AM.

Had to get up early Saturday morning (well, ok, I got up at 10) so I could prepare the house for the 5 year reunion. Parents helped out big time with food preparations, etc. The party was a big success. Probably about 20 people came (hey, out of 65, not bad). Sean (a guy in my class) brought his very pregnant wife and their 2 year old. While his daughter was very cute and pretty well-behaved, I was a bit nervous since I didn't know she was coming and therefore hadn't baby-proofed the house. My parents have a lot of expensive decorations in the house, from paintings to porcelain figures and delicate Swiss clocks. Thankfully, no incident. And Sean and his wife did a fairly good job of keeping their daughter under supervision. Darwin is really good with kids, so the girl was able to play with the dog for a while.

Anyway, reunion went very well. Lots of good food, some folks brought beer, and people looked really good. It was also nice that some of our teachers were able to come, and they were thrilled to see us and hear about our lives. People were pretty much there from 3 until almost 8. At that point, we dispersed. A smaller group of 6 of us went to Sheisha Knights (a hooka bar). I didn't partake in the houka, but I did enjoy a very yummy hot yogurt/coconut/cashew drink. Anyway, it was great to see people. And there was enough peach cobbler left over to eat on Sunday for breakfast...mmmm. It was especially nice to see Fenella, who surprised me since I thought she was still in Scotland writing her thesis (she had come home for the week).

Sunday, I drove down to Orlando with my mom (she had a meeting in Tampa last night and this morning). Once in Orlando, we got dinner at Panera and then we picked up her rental car so she could drive to Tampa from Orlando.

Capped the evening off with watching Animation Domination on Fox and doing some writing (yes, Nicole, that kind of writing). I should have gone to the gym, but I'll be sure to go tonight to make up for it. ;)

Even though I went to bed kinda late last night, I got up early this morning. I was kind of excited because it gave me a chacne to arrive at the office early and get some work out of the way. Sure enough, on I-4, someone rear ends me. Heh, ah well. No one was hurt or anything (the traffic had been touch and go) and the guy ran into my bumper the way someone would in a parking lot (not particularly fast). We pulled over and exchanged info. There's only a light scratch on the rear bumper, and I mainly just want to take it into the Infinity dealer in Tallahassee so they can check out the rear bumper and make sure there isn't any damage that can't be seen with the eye (like something that would affect shock absorption, etc.). Really not a big deal at all, thank God.

Well, that's my Monday so far. Not bad, not bad at all.
