The second trip was to a further place, a place called Krabi, somewhere in Thailand. It was also for about 5 days, except that my cousins Justin, Jeremy and their mom had to stay one more day because the flights back were full.(Budget airlines are the worst) My whole family went this time. We were booked on Tiger Airways, and it only took about 1 hour 25 mins to get there. So we took off at 8, and reached Krabi at 8.25. Time diference of 1 hr, with Krabi behind us. We weren't really on a tour, but we had a guide exclusive to us only because we were such a big group. We were the only family on the tour packages we booked, well you no the reason why. After we landed, we immediately travelled to our first hotel by 2 vans provided by Ann, the guide. We reaced Ao nang, sunset hotel minutes after. We put down our things and checked the place out before going out to shop at shops nearby the hotel. It was just a small hotel, maybe something like a B&B, or maybe bigger, I don't no, but it was nice enough inside the rooms. At least it was better than Tiara, the golf resort we stayed at in Melaka. They had telephones at Ao nang. lol. The shops were mostly open, but it wasn't really a night market, so it wasn't really busy. We bought some stuff and we were done for the night.
The next day, we went Island-hopping. We booked a long-tail boat, and it took us about 1 hr and 30 mins to get to the famous Hong Island. If we went by speedboat we would have made it in half the time. The next Island we 'hopped' to was.... was.... wait. Paradise Island I think. Yeah. We went snorkelling. Then the last nd final Island we went to was I can't remember, but they were all seriously beautiful. The scenery was incredible. But I didn't enjoy the first part of the trip as much as I did of the second. Well one of the many reasons was because there was this sea biting insect, that attacked us when we snorkelled into the sea. they're really small, and you can't catch them, but everytime they bite you, it's really pain. They were like everywhere in the sea and more in some parts. So when you're swimming and someone calls out, Ouch! You no that stupid insect bit him. It was infested with them! The horrible sea creature. But other than that, the journey on the long-tail boat was quite interesting. I can't really remember what I did so I'll just roughly erm state the highlights of the trip. We went to Tiger caves where we had to climb like so many steps and walk long distances to see a temple and a thousand year old tree. Next, we went to the hot springs. It was quite nice because it was drizzling lightly and the water was so warm. But I didn't particularly enjoy it because the water smelled like sewage. After that, we went to Krabi town, where the well-known night market was. We bought lots and lots of food there(for dinner), then traveled to Sofitel, where we stayed for the second part of the trip. Sofitel is in a more secluded part of Krabi, because it was a 5-star hotel, and it beat One World. We checked into a great hall, and the chairs were so comfy you could sleep in them. They even served drinks while we were waiting for all the procedures to be done. The hotel room was just, Wow! The bathroom was really big, and they had all the facilities there. Their soap and lotion and stuff were all branded, inported from places like Paris and some other posh plcae I forgot. The room was bigger than most other 5 star hotels, and the balcony was just as good. They even had beautifully cut fruits on the coffee table for you. After we put down our stuff, we explored. The swimming pool was just FABULOUS. It strectes across the whole diameter?? and lets say about..... maybe 2 soccer fields? I don't no. It was just really big. They had childcare, cooking lessons, a private playground, and even timetables for activities like yoga, kayakking, canoeing and stuff. It was all cool. After the exploring, we all gathered at one hotel where all the food we bought at Krabi town was spread out on tables all over the room and balcony. Shhh..... We aren't supposed to have takeaways from a night market in a hotel room!!! Haha. 5 star hotel, 2 star guests. Our motto for the night. But the food was really good, and we were all really full after dinner. We had a good nights sleep, and we stayed at Sofitel the full day to enjoy all the wonderful facilities that they catered. We went swimming, played table tennis, kayakking, just claking in the awesome room, watching movies we missed out on the cable tv,(yeah, cable!!) and lots of other stuff. We had dinner at a nearby little restaurant, which was really slow because the boss herself cooks,(1 chef only) but the food was really really good. Not to mention we got addiction on the fruit shakes that Thailand or Krabi is so fammous for. We even adapted their way of spesking eglish, saying ah-kui-miii, one eye, two eye? They tend to pronounce words without the s, making making excuse me sounding like ah-kui-mi, and ice sounding like eye. Haha. The next and final day,( for most of us) was spent by going for a swim in the big pool and exploring. They have private pools st the other end, and what I mean by private is not that we couldn't go there, but more like villas. You just opened the door to where your balcony is supposed to be, but instea to find yourself looking at the pool. So you just change, and jump into the pool straight from your hotel room. They even have showers there to rinse yourself before going back up again. But it costs about what, 10 000 baht a night? Steep. The pool even has swings on raised platforms, but still in water. It's really really cool. And we went scuba diving training in the pool too. It was just out of the world!!!! The experience it self was wicked. Not having to come back up to the surface to breathe, having fins that can propel you up at speeds you never knew you could go. After we checked out, sadly, we went elephant trekking. It was quite a scary experience, because you felt like you were about to topel down any minute. But it was quite fun, and the mahuts(elephant trainers) were really funny people. One mahut was as young as 17! Some of us even tried taking the mahuts place, sitting on the elephants head, which the mahuts kindly allowed. But one elephant did not like Justin, and stopped dead in it's tracks, trumpeting loudly and wildly. My verdict: Roller coasters might cause less deaths or heart attacks. After that, we went to eat and then headed to the airport. It was a night flight, and we reached Singapore at about 1.15. Overall, the trip was really enjoyable.
