My dream this morning and Internet or not

So this morning I had a very, very pleasant dream that my old friend, Casey McKinley, and I were having a meal here in Laguna Beach before heading down to some event in San Diego. And we were going to meet up with Timmy (Tim Murphy). I have really been out of touch with both of these friends of mine for a year or two.

Casey was a very important friend in college and Tim was too, although his absence made managing our friendship a little difficult. And no doubt the whole gay/straight thing complicated matters a bit.

But I made it a priority this morning to find some way of contacting Casey and fortunately stumbled upon his myspace music page. It's the only internet footprint he seems to have. Which leads me to "internet or not". But I'll get to that in a minute. First, Casey's music sounds amazing. I have always loved his voice and still do. He has an amazing bell-clear tone and excellent range.

I left a message for him through his band's myspace page. I really hope he writes back.

Ok...So what about Tim? we hung out at the ruby about a year or two ago. Emixne and me drove up from Laguna that weekend Shaina and he stayed at my place when we first met (so that's Januar of 2006!) Tim and I tried a couple times to get together after that but the distance made it impossible. And things were never entirely comfortable between us anyway.

My point is, what's up with people not having a myspace of a facebook, etc.? If you don't live close enough to visit in person regularly, or aren't really big phone talkers, then it's almost like them saying, "If we're not going to hang out, then I don't want to be friends." AAAlmost.

The thing is...it makes me realize the importance and usefulness of these social tools. Staying in touch can be difficult, but even only saying "hii" on a comment can make a huge difference in maintaining the relationship.

Don't you think?
