I got a letter from the police today (the good kind), I have passed my interview for the post of Forensic Intelligence Analyst.
That's the good news.
The bad news is I didn't get the job.
To quote the missive directly:
I refer to your recent interview for the above post and can confirm you have passed, however we are unable to offer you the position at this time. Your name will be kept on a waiting list should any similar posts arise within the next 12 months.
No, despite not getting the job, I see this as a positive.
Two jobs applied for, two interviews secured; of which one passed. That's not bad going.
Then there is the why I didn't get it. I presume, trying to read between the lines, that my interview and presentation were marked above the line for acceptance but presumably someone scored higher.
Being kept on a register is also good, because it saves them having to interview me twice and I may well yet get a job out of this but 12 months is too long to wait in hope and perpetuity, even so something may come along.
This decision and letter had taken about a fortnight, so I had quiet persuaded myself that I'd messed up: but this has brightened my mood considerably. So now I suppose I look for more related roles or see what constitutes good experience and go from there.
