I'm kind of sad right now. I finished watching an eleven episode series, and, so sad. I'm such a sucker for sappy things, and because of that, and from when I was little, I cry really easy when it gets to a point. Ah well. I recommend it to anyone, actually anyone who is interesting in Japanese Television (I hate how I will watch anything from anywhere... I watch VisionTV when it's East Indian stuff because I find it horribly interesting... Bah), more specifially Japanese Dramas, I recommend the following (in no particular order, and because I felt like it, the themes):
1.
Maou (2008) Theme: Arashi - truth2.
Nobuta wo Produce (2005) Theme: Shuji to Akira - Seishun Amigo3.
Kurosagi (2006) Theme: Yamashita Tomohisa - Daite Senorita4.
Bloody Monday (2008) Theme: flumpool - Over the Rain ~Hikari no Hashi~5.
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (2007) Themes: Orange Range - Ikenai Taiyo, Otsuka Ai - PEACH6.
1 Poundno Fukuin (2008) Theme: KAT-TUN - LIPSAnyways... Three of those are fairly happy, while three are more of a suspence kind, but very, very good, well in my opinion.
I went to Winnipeg on Wednesday and did some shopping. I came back with two books, two sweaters-things, and two cds (The ants go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah.). The books I bought were Torchwood's Slow Decay and Neil Gaiman's American Gods. The cds were two by Hot Hot Heat.
So, at the end of last year I told myself, "Ashley, you will see a movie a month in 2009!" Well, that's going well. I went and saw Marley & Me, Bride Wars, and Inkheart. I saw M&M with my family, and the other two with a co-worker/friend this past Thursday night. I shall now write a bit about them, well how I thought, under this cut...
Marley & Me - I already knew the ending as there is a copy of the book floating around the house, and on occasion I read the final few pages before reading. Not to mention the fact that my mom kind of ruined it for me, as she told me... Sorry, nevermind, I tend to spoil endings myself, not my moms fault. I went and saw this movie with my family, and I refrained from crying (unlike Maou, even after I figured the ending too) in the end. Yay.
Bride Wars - An okay movie. I have a soft spot for Anne Hathaway, so I had to see it. Not the best, and while it is being sold as a comedy, it wasn't really all that funny. The ending was touching though (I think I felt some choking happening) to an extent, but upon thinking (this was during the movie), the ending was a tad silly, and very, very obvious. If you want a movie that is okay, and kind of fun, this is good for that.
Inkheart - I've been wanting to see this since some time last year, so I was happy to watch it. I quite enjoyed it. Very much so. I saw this the same night as Bride Wars, and I found it much more enjoyable, though could be because of my love for fantasy and such. The acting was excellent, and the screen time was split up pretty damn well. Makes me want to read the books, which I plan to do now. I hope for the next book to be made into a movie (even more than the whole of the Twilight series) as the cast was quite excellent.
And now a note on the drama I just watched (spoilers ahead).
Maou - I had watched the first episode last month, and decided to sit down a finish it recently. I found it to be wonderfully captivating in the suspenceful way it was intended. Ikuta Toma is amazing, and Ohno was quite excellent. The cast was amazing in a whole. I was pleased that Toma was in a different sort of role than normal (such as in HanaKimi). While you, as the viewer knew everything going on (double leads), there were surprises everwhere to be found. It was amazing, and you really feel for the characters, especially if you cram it into a week and a half...
Now that that (for some reason typing/writing 'that that' has always bothered me, even though it fits) is over, I have one last message.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIMON!
... It's 4.05 in the morning. Sorry I cannot come to your party, I must work.
