Had a truly excellent day today!

We drove to Menomonie to meet ‘Grandma’ Ginny and Al at the farmer’s market there, which is really quite lovely. There was a bakery place selling some dark chocolate blueberry scones that were day-making all on their own. Luna got fussy, because her nap on the way over was too short, so we put her in the stroller and started a nice, meandering walk through some side streets. We talked about a little of everything, from family to books to rocks (most James and Al on that one).

After we said goodbye to them, we went down to Wakanda Park to eat our lunch. We’re pretty much broke at the moment, with no more overtime money to supplement our single income, so we’re learning how to be frugal. Arjen made sandwiches and packed some fruit and cheese for James; it was really quite lovely. After we ate Arjen and James played in the grass with a ball for awhile, and then we drove down to see the buffaloes before heading back downtown to check out the cat cafe!! I know, right? Apparently they’ve been open for a year already but I only just heard about them; one of Arjen’s colleagues got her cat there. So obviously we had to go check it out. There are four kitties in residence there right now. I have to admit I’ve fallen pretty hard for one of them. The cafe is quite nice to hang out in, period, and James had a heck of a good time shining a laser light for the cats. He’s quite taken with the same cat that I am. We’ll see if we can’t make it happen to bring him home!

To wrap up the day, we had a delicious stir fry dinner and watched The Money Pit, a comedy with Tom Hanks from 1986. It was hilarious and just the kind of light-hearted slapstick comedy that we needed. Netflix’s movie game is seriously on point right now, by the way!
