Three brothers of the same family, son of Pierre and Marie Rivière-Dabin Dabin, were mobilized and write to their mother and sisters, the father being then died. The family lives in the Tillou hamlet in the municipality of Saint-Hilaire-des-bois (now Saint-Hilaire de Clisson), in the lower Loire (Loire-Atlantique) and are all farmers.
The three brothers in their letters tell their life in the trenches, their feelings about the enemy, and their injuries are also concerned about their land, harvest that women should manage the village.
Of the three brothers, Leon (born March 10, 1891), Alphonse (born 19 January 1890) and Henry (born 13 November 1883), only Henry returned alive.
