I decided to begin the 363 day challenge at a time that would be difficult for me as my wife and I had decided to head down to the United States for a weekend alone to rest, enjoy each other’s company, EAT great food and do some SHOPPING :-P
Well, I guess I couldn’t have actually picked a better time to begin, as we ate some wonderful dinners while we were down there - Seastar restaurant in Bellevue and the Tulalip Bay restaurant in the Tulalip Casino Hotel. I would recommend both restaurants (Seastar was a second trip) as we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. At the Seastar, we started with crab cakes, spicy tuna stuffed calamari, and chicken, cheese risotto balls. We then shared the Seared Ahi Tuna and King Crab dinners. This was followed up with two desserts, which we again shared - the deep fried banana sundae - amazing - and the molten chocolate cake! At Tulalip Bay restaurant, they had a five course “around the world” menu, which featured cheese in each dish. We each had the cheese fondue, tomato and Bocconcini salad, fried calamari salad with a cheese that was somewhere between a gorgonzola and a brie, I had the king crab legs and my wife had the strip-loin. This was followed up with a dessert cheese platter.
So, you see why I needed to work out - fortunately, we had both brought workout gear on the trip. On Day #1, January 3, 2010, I did a 60 minute workout in the hotel on the stationary bike - 20 minute warmp-up, 23 minutes of 6 x 3 minutes hard intervals with 1 minute rest, and a 17 minute cool-down.
It was a great day - the shopping sucked, but the food was great (this day was Seastar), the Company was amazing, and the streak has begun.
Until next time, all the Best in your training and lives,
Clint
