Edward was not fond of many things. Milk, for example, was at the very top of his list. He could not for the life of him understand how people could drink the stuff. It came out of... udders for fucks sake! Another thing he could not stand was being treated like a child or being called short. He was NOT SHORT! But the one thing he could not change (but still hated) was Roy's chivalry.
The older Alchemist didn't seem to understand that Ed was a guy, a MALE, and did not need Roy to hold doors for him or bring him flowers on dates. Paying for food was fine, since he was the one being taken out. What wasn't ok was when Roy payed for the meal when Ed took him out. That was a problem.
But Ed could never tell Roy to stop. Roy's chivalry was a way for him to show his affections. He could grumble and say "I'm not a girl!", but the words "Stop being so... YOU!" would never cross his lips.
"Would you like me to put my jacket over that puddle for you, Ed?"
Scratch that last part. "You and you're stupid chivalry! Fuck you Colonel Bastard!!"
