freaking awesome dream

Feb 08, 2007 20:59

just have to type out this friggin awesome dream that i had last night. um... since i can't remember much of the beginning, i'll have to just kinda paraphrase it. the dream is set in the future (like space travel), and is about a girl (i think her name is alex) and her mom, who are part of a rebel group. they fly around a lot to different planets and such, because they're often being hunted by the major government leaders. earth is infected with a strange type of pollution, which the evil main leader guy (who has a deformed mouth on the palm of his hand, with needle-like teeth as long as his fingers) is immune to. (the part about the gov't leader and such is actually a reference from another dream...)

alex and her mom found this one planet, where all the inhabitants are gone but their houses and everything are still there. so they're living in one of the houses with their dog. and it's winter :P

and, before you ask... no, i really don't have dreams that are this detailed. and i'm gonna write it out like a little story, because i'm crazy bored.

Alex and her mom came home - assuming it could be called "home" - late one night, after going to another planet for supplies and food. The house that they were staying in was connected to several other houses, almost like a large motel. They had chosen to stay in the one on the end, because it provided more escape routes incase something went wrong. Judging by the dust layered inside, the community had been long since abandoned, but the plants outside hadn't overgrown the stone walls (Alex's mom had spent several days trying to figure out the reason for this, to no avail).

The dog started growling when they approached the door.

The handle turned, and the door opened revealing nothing - the lights inside were all turned off, how they were left - until a man suddenly appeared in the doorway, almost like magic, holding a thin flashlight. He was dressed in a light uniform with no insignia. Slowly, he raised his hands in a friendly gesture before tilting his flashlight upwards and making a pattern in the air. Similar lights and signals appeared in the trees far to the side of the housing units. Alex's mom opened her mouth to say something, but the man swiftly sidestepped to the edge of the porch, jumping backwards and vanishing before hitting the snow.

Alex's mom stepped past Alex through the doorway, shaking her head with disgust. "Reforgers," she muttered, "If we're lucky, they'll leave since there's no established colonies here."

Little was known about the small military group labeled as the Reforgers. Rumors said they flew to newly discovered colonies, brainwashing the inhabitants to follow the current government, avoiding any need for diplomacy. A peace group, some said, due to the lack of war and killing this promoted. This was the type of thinking that Alex and her mom, and several others, fought against almost constantly. The Reforgers wouldn't know who they were, so maybe it was true... if they were lucky, they would be left alone. While brainwashing was certainly no good deed, the Reforgers were rumored to be peaceful... Alex didn't think she had ever heard about anybody being killed by them.

The next night, Alex was on her own.

She was in the kitchen, making herself some dinner, when the dog started barking and growling in the other room. The door opened, banging against the wall, and Alex heard two sets of heavy footsteps. The dog stopped barking, and she slowly put down her pan, turning towards the kitchen door and raising her hands. It was safe to assume they had heat-sensing technology to read where people were at and whether or not they might be doing something threatening.

One of the men entered the kitchen, heavily armored, heading straight for her. He wordlessly gripped her arm and lead her out to the other room. She could see the dog asleep on the floor, a dart sticking out of its neck.

The other man, also heavily armored, removed his helmet as she was lead closer. It was the man from the day before. He smiled, and took both of her arms, moving behind her. The other man took off his helmet, and kneeled across the room looking into what seemed like a toolbox.

"What's going on? There is no civilization here, can't you see that? Leave us alone!" Alex fought against the restraint of the other man, though it seemed like he wasn't holding her very tightly. Eventually she got tired of fighting back, and decided to just be calm instead.

Thankfully the man restraining her decided to respond, now that she'd gotten a bit of the fight out of her system. "We're Reforgers, ma'am, just doing our job. I know a lot of people don't know or understand what we do... but I promise you, we're here to help."

Alex frowned, "If you're here to help, then why are you carrying guns?"

The man across the room laughed. The man behind her began delicately rolling up her left sleeve.

"Incase of emergency, I suppose. They're just dart guns."

Confused, she wordlessly watched him expose her arm.

"The Reforgers are a small military group - although, I suppose we're more like mercenaries sometimes - in charge of making unfriendly environments... friendly. We take a little something from the native inhabitants, and put it into others. That way they can live in the habitat without worrying about getting sick or dying. Sometimes it even protects them from native predators. How else do you think [i don't know the gov't leader's name] survives in that poisonous crap on Earth? Although, it's not without its downsides I guess."

Alarmed, Alex shrieked. "That thing on his hand?! I don't want some disgusting thing on my hand! Let me go!"

"Relax, sweets, it's not all like that." He turned her so she could look at him, then winked. "Hell, I don't have anything like that at all."

He's awfully friendly, for a guy who just barged into my house and drugged my dog, she thought.

The other man laughed, startling her out of her thoughts.

"Wish I could say the same for all of us!"

He came walking toward her, with a syringe-like instrument in his hand. "Now hold still, and don't start thinking you have a choice."

An hour later, Alex was sitting on the floor of the front room rubbing the spot on her arm where she had been injected. The door opened and her mom walked in, nearly tripping over the sleeping dog.

"What the--?"

Alex stood up, "The Reforgers were here... they injected me with something."

"They what?!" She rushed over to Alex.

"It's ok..." Alex explained what had happened, along with what happened afterwards. "I was leaning against the wall, and had this strange feeling. I focused on it, and started to go into the wall! Like I became a part of it! And then I could even go through to the other side..."

Surprised, her mom walked over to the wall and began running her hand along it. "Wow..."

"I'm a little tired... I think I'm going to go lay down."

Her mom nodded, and Alex left the room as the dog finally started to wake up.

When she got to her room, Alex sat on her bed. This is so strange... I guess that guy got the ability to turn invisible when he got injected. Yesterday makes a little more sense at least, now... Then she began thinking about how he had winked at her. Was he being more than just friendly? Was he... flirting?

Alex blushed. Who cared, anyway. The Reforgers were probably already gone by now... although, if they had injected her, then they must want to inject her mom as well.

As if remembering something she had been told earlier, Alex had the sudden feeling that she knew the Reforgers hadn't left yet. Not only that, she knew they had set up camp behind the housing units. She couldn't, however, remember when she might've been told this, but she was sure it was true.

On a whim, she stood up and stepped to the outside wall, putting her hand to it and slowly melding herself with the stone wall. It was the strangest feeling she had ever felt, almost like poking a limb that's been put to sleep; she felt tingles and a strange uneasy feeling, and was grateful once she made it to the other side.

She wandered around the building, to the rear side, where there was a line of trees that made up the edge of a deep forest. Here and there, lanterns were hung on the trees, and there were tables set up. She didn't see any tents, however, and assumed they must be in the trees.

Alex stepped up to one of the tables. Piled on it were flashlights, helmets, and other odd bits and pieces of equipment. Judging by the amount of equipment spread across all of the tables, Alex guessed there must be at least fifty Reforgers there.

A noise to her right made her turn, and she saw the man that had injected her stepping out of the trees. She opened her mouth to call out to him, but noticed something strange - his left arm was suspended in the air with the hand hanging limp, and his head was drooped to one side with his eyes closed.

The man slowly started walking in an arch, heading in her general direction. Alex backed up into a table, and stopped, unsure of what was going on.

As if on cue, the man's hand snapped up and Alex could see a gaping hole rimmed with needle-like teeth hissing and spitting from his palm. He started walking directly for her, in lunging steps.

Before Alex could scream or even think of moving, the other man appeared behind his colleague, grabbing him and bringing him down to the ground.

"Wake up! Wake up, you fool!" He shouted.

The man on the ground woke with a start, and immediately rushed to cover his hand with his shirt. He looked over at Alex, horrified, and began sputtering wild apologies. "I'm so sorry, I don't... I'm so... so sorry..."

The other man stood, and helped him up. "It's ok Bill."

"No... it must have gotten uncovered when I was sleeping. I... I can't believe this happened... David I'm so sorry..."

David nodded, and Bill turned to Alex. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, and began walking back towards the trees, clutching his arm.

Alex stood there, still not quite sure of what just happened, and jumped as David touched her shoulder.

"Are you ok?"

Nodding, Alex slowly lowered herself to the ground and sat on the grass. David smiled and followed suit.

"He has a mouth just like [argh! gov't leader] does?"

"Yeah... although he has to go through greater measures to control it. There are rumors that, rather than controlling it, [grr] let's it control him instead." David chuckled.

Alex sat in silence, still a little shakened.

David smiled again, and spoke softly, "You know... I have to admit something."

Surprised, she looked up at his face.

"I'm finding myself more and more attracted to you, though honestly I don't think it would ever work out."

Alex blushed, and opened her mouth to agree, but waves of thoughts suddenly came crashing over her mind. Images of herself in what must be a year from now, talking and laughing with David... then more images, of her announcing to her mom that they were engaged... and several more images on top of that.

"I... I think it would be ok."

David smiled even more - Does he ever stop smiling? she wondered - and stood up, extending a hand to help her up. "I suppose you should be getting back."

if you didn't catch on, alex got the power to meld with stone and look into the future from her alien injection... but this is where the dream gets fuzzy :P basically the gov't finds out where they've been hiding, and sends an assassin to take them out. alex sees that he's coming, and tries to find david but can't. david knows the assassin (has worked with him before on a few occassions, since they both work for the gov't) and hears of the order, so he's off trying to come up with a plan to save alex and her mom. the assassin shows up and begins chasing alex. he has the power to control the air around him. alex comes around a corner and is suddenly grabbed. it turns out to be david, invisible, and he tells her to be really quiet and still. he makes her invisible (along with him) just as the assassin is coming around the corner. the assassin stops, and tilts his head... then says, "I know you're there... the air is telling me so..." and suddenly brings his blade up and stops it. david makes himself visible, and the blade is at his neck. he smiles and the assassin shakes his head, saying "one of these days, i'll kill you just for the hell of it." then he continues on his way around the other side of the building. after a bit, david tells alex to follow him and they run off to get her mom. the day is saved! hoorayz! and for those wondering, while the air currents could tell the assassin that SOMETHING was there, he couldn't tell how MANY somethings. so david used himself to hide the fact that alex was standing behind him :)

yay big block of text!

the end.
