Bit of a Rant About Protesters.

This community looks slightly inactive so I thought I'd cross post from my journal about my first day as an escort. ( I'm sure most of you share these sentiments. )

Wow, it sounds like there's definitely a lively anti crowd in your neck of the woods. Ours are the more subtle kind - they generally speak softly, don't insult - and lie their asses off. :P

This all sounds quite familiar, right down to the "You're killing your race!" racist b.s. Do something nice for yourself. Seriously. Start a tradition of laying out at a lake or going out for ice cream or something, d, because even if you are able to roll your eyes at them and just do your job as an escort, having all that negativity hurled at you for hours can really take a toll (physically, spirituality, whatever). Self-care if essential. I'm glad you have a friend doing this with you.

Wow, I'm glad I don't have to get up so early! Our clinic doesn't open until 8, though they let patients inside to wait at 7:30. We get there at 7:30, which is about the same time the first protesters show up. I thought that was early!

I've been escorting about three years now, and I don't find it as upsetting as I used to. I think I've partly gotten used to it and partly the protesters have mellowed a bit. I've come to be slightly fond of some of them, which is kind of disturbing to me. My favorite was when one of them told me I'm not married because my husband was aborted.

"My favorite was when one of them told me I'm not married because my husband was aborted."

Huh, that's a new one. Thankfully I didn't have to deal with protesters when I went to my clinic. You guys are awesome for what you do to help. Hell, you're probably better company than most of the bf's and husbands. lol
