If you're in Colorado

I think this is uber-important, especially with the crap nominations to the Supreme Court

From NARAL:
COLORADO NEEDS A PRO-CHOICE GOVERNOR!

PLEASE EMAIL OR WRITE MAYOR JOHN HICKENLOOPER TO ASK HIM TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR

As of January 5, 2006, we do not have a pro-choice candidate for Governor in Colorado. The issue of women’s reproductive rights and health care has never been more important given the rapidly changing composition of the Supreme Court. It is likely that the Supreme Court will overturn or gut Roe vs. Wade soon, so it will be up to our elected officials to decide whether Colorado will support a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices or whether the state will revert to its old 1967 criminal abortion statute.

Mayor John Hickenlooper recently stated that he has not found a compelling reason to run for Governor, so please let him know that his support for women’s reproductive rights and health care is a compelling reason.

Sample message to send to the Mayor:

Dear Mayor Hickenlooper:

You recently stated that you have not found a compelling reason to run for Governor of Colorado in 2006. I believe that your support of women’s reproductive rights and health care is that compelling reason.

The issue of women’s reproductive rights and health care has never been more important in Colorado given the rapidly changing composition of the Supreme Court. It is likely that the Supreme Court will overturn or gut Roe vs. Wade soon, so it will most likely be up to our next governor and state legislature to decide whether Colorado will support a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices or whether the state will revert to its old 1967 criminal abortion statute.

I urge you to run for Governor to provide critical leadership on this vital issue that is supported by a majority of Coloradans. Thanks for your consideration.
