My sisters and I are thinking about going on a bike ride around Lake Constance in southern Germany next spring/early summer. To that end, I'm going to take advantage of the balmy October weather and get some weekly riding in (maybe until the snow flies) to see if I could do an actual tour. The ride we are looking at is an average of 20 miles a day for 6 days on relatively flat roads. Minneapolis is blessed with an abundance of bike trails, so I will be able to avoid traffic for most of my rides.
This morning I rode about 11 miles in 90 minutes with a brief stop to eat an apple. The trail through Theo Wirth Park was undulating, and the section on Victory Memorial Drive was nice and flat. Beautiful fall foliage was a plus. I'm not a babbling heap of jello, so based on this small sample, I might do okay.
My plan is to keep an LJ record of my rides.
let's ride bikes!
