I am being moved to another newspaper. To here: http://northern-district-times.whereilive.com.au/ It will be hard news. Investigations, crime and politics. The mood in my office is weird. I don't have the energy to describe it. I guess to surmise: Job cuts, firing, people being moved around, and possibility the paper I am at will close. Rumour, speculation, tension (in the entirety of News Ltd, not just our paper, in the entirety of media really things are incredibly tough right now). So it is good that I am being moved. It's a step up in the company, if it can be a step up when you don't get a pay-rise.
In any case I am reading The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac and I am enjoying it a lot, the way he talks about poetry, a freight-hopping poet and drifter whose story is simple and beautiful.
