I don't know anything about the Pt as she was not one of mine. I decided not to investigate...
Other things that happened today at work:
I had to overhead page the ER charge nurse. She was typically MIA while we were short-staffed and getting swamped with ambulances. Every single nurse in the department had 4 Pts and an ambulance was coming in emergent with a stroke Pt. Now, if you overhead page someone, it's probably pretty important and most people would RUN to wherever they were being paged. She showed up about 10 minutes later with no visible signs of exertion. Meanwhile, I was taking care of 5 Pts, one of whom was this Pt having a stroke in the crisis room. It's really great to feel like everyone is working hard and pulling together as a team...
I resolved a GI bleeder's tachycardia by telling her about the tube I was gonna stick down her nose into her stomach. She vagalled and dropped her HR from 130 to 70... That'd be kinda good if it weren't for that fact that her BP also dropped to 55/24. Yikes!
