Nami is, first and foremost, money greedy. Absolutely any money and gold that falls into the hands of the straw hats is automatically deemed “hers”. Whether actually gained by her or the entire crew matters not to Nami. Everything that is spent by the straw hats is budgeted by Nami who is usually quite frugal. However, she is not completely unkind. An allowance is given to each member to spend as they please. While really one may find this quite silly to be so obsessed with money even after gaining so much, for Nami there is a good reason behind it. For her it is stemmed from her eight years working as an Arlong Pirate in order to buy back her own village. Her hatred the Arlong Pirates for what they did to her family and friends caused her to decide to steal from pirates and only pirates. But even before then Nami had learned the ways of a miniature thief, stealing books and other nice things she knew her poor foster mother could ever afford for her.

Nami is, quite possibly the most clever and devious woman in the entire East Blue. In order to reach her goal she would stop at nothing. Pushing her own true feelings aside, she became a harsh woman many called a witch. Calm and calculated, Nami could singlehandedly raid an entire pirate ship blind without so much of a blink of an eye. The woman’s usual means to do this is with her fabulous acting skills. A damsel in distress or even a woman that truly wished to become a pirate could easily fool others, particularly with one of her most useful skills to drink practically any pirate under the table. What better way to obtain gold than to sneak off with it after everyone has drunk themselves to oblivion?

There is, however, much more to Nami’s brain than that of a clever, money lover. Nami is an incredibly bright woman. At a young age she could map entire villages and has always had a fondness of books. Reading a map is the woman’s specialty, thus her role as a navigator. It is her dream to be the first cartographer to map the entire world, something that has yet to be done due to the dangers of the Grand
Land. She is generally the kind of woman who enjoys a nice, peaceful day where she can leisurely work and read. Of course, as a straw hat pirate, this is something she rarely gets.

Nami’s role as a Straw Hat is much more than a simple navigator and banker. More than anything, she takes on the job of a big sister. While she can be demanding, short tempered and prone to yelling, it is not without good reason. Several of the Straw Hats have a tendency to be childish, careless and on some occasions simply do not think. It is Nami that usually puts down her foot, though not always in the best of ways as it sometimes results in yelling or hitting those behaving badly. In a backwards way, Nami does it because she generally loves and cares for the wellbeing of her nakama. Though she does not outwardly appear as if she would do so, Nami really would do about anything for her crew members. Even in a particular time where she told Luffy not to fall in the water, claiming she wouldn’t be the one to save him, she was still the first one to jump in after.

Though often harsh when it comes to boys, Nami does not offer this to absolutely every person she crosses. To other women the Straw Hat’s befriend Nami has a tendency to be much calmer, never offering them the same yelling treatment that the boys so clearly deserve. It is around other women like Robin, and even Vivi and Cammie when they were around that Nami showed a softer, more feminine side. She also tends to open up a little more and is more willing to agree to add an extra woman to the straw hats than another rowdy male.

Among the rest of the Straw Hats, Nami realistically accepts that she is not as strong as the rest and likely never will be. However, she is both an incredibly proud and stubborn woman. Only under extreme conditions will Nami ever ask for help, and even then it is only to those she truly trusts and believes in. For this reason Nami, despite the lack of power and strength, chooses to stick with her nakama. When push comes to shove, she will fight alongside them rather than staybehind.

It’s important to note that Nami, like most One Piece characters, is incredibly human in her actions and moods. That is to say she is well rounded and not subjected to one mood or action at all times. She can mood swing like the best of them or when one might expect her to be ina bad mood, she will show otherwise. Even when it comes to money sometimes if she’s in the right mood she can be generous. For example, after being given a horde of gold Nami willingly hands over an arm-cuff to Luffy for no seemingly good reason.

In a world full of people with strange powers with the thanks to Devil’s fruits or super-strength, Nami just happens to be a normal woman. She holds no super strength or powers and before the creation of her climatact she was prone to fleeing in battle and letting the boys handle all the work.

However, while she may generally be a normal girl, Nami does have the ability to feel the slightest change in the pressure of the atmosphere. She can detect a freak storm even on the sunniest of days long before the storm clouds roll in. This ability makes her incredibly valuable as a navigator.

Nami is also both a great actress and thief. From a young age she learned to push all her actual feelings behind, often making her come across as a ‘witch’. Her skills as a thief also go as far as to the ability to steal an entire village’s worth of wallets right out from under her nose.

Lastly, Nami has the ability to out-drink grown pirates. It’s unsure whether this is something she learned to do over time or if the alcohol just doesn’t effect her, but getting drunk is something that Nami will never do.

Nami has few actual weaknesses besides gold, jewels, you name it. She’s your average thief, however money is not the end all be all for her. She just really really likes it, okay?

Of course, being a normal human ties into a weakness as well, however perhaps the biggest one is those close to her, particularly when she fears she is in danger. Nami will do anything for those she cares about, her crew, the close friend’s she’s met along the way as well as the people from her home village. After all, she cared for them so much she joined the Arlong pirates in the first place. In Strong World this fear is used against her by Shiki in order to persuade her into joining him.

Why your character should be a Meister: Like most of the Straw Hat pirates, Nami is incredibly individualistic. She likes to do what she wants to do when she wants to do it and does not like being tied down by other people. While she may not be the leader of the group, she holds a kind of confidence about her that can keep a group of rowdy pirates in line (for the most part).

Clairvoyance - They are able to know their immediate terrain and create a mental map, and sense the souls within the vicinity. This ability has a one-kilometer radius must be used during resonance.

Independent, stubborn, clever, devious, short tempered, greedy

Nami’s soul appearance takes the form a floaty orange head with the outline of her (lovely flowing) hair with her eyes set into “money-greedy” mode, taking the shape of beli signs in white.
