So, the main highlight of my day was that Allison called from Dublin. It was only about a 30 second phone call, but it was still nice that she called!
I've been doing something weird lately. I've been going to bed early, and waking up early. Today I finished the Godfather (I didn't much care for the ending), Changed my bedsheets, did laundry, went to the Y....Yup, It was pretty much a lounge around day.
But it was amazing! Because I could wear shorts all day today. Yay for Spring break! I dabbed in a new hobby, and no, it wasn't embroidery. I'm gonna do another one tomorrow.
I have a small list of things I'm gonna do tomorrow. In the morning, I'm gonna wake up, and make a pillow. Just because I found my old sewing stuff...wow, I sound like a dork..Anyways, then I'm gonna wash my car and clean it out, cuz it got really dirty going to San Antonio. Then I'm going to this meeting thing my mom has at Starbucks because she's heading up a silent auction, so I told her I'd help her with it. And then I'm gonna go to Meyer Park and fly a kite!! I hope it's windy enough. I looked up the weather for tomorrow online, and it should be a really nice day. Maybe shorts weather again! Huzzah! Then, who knows.
So on Monday and Tuesday I went to two different colleges in San Antonio. They were both really small. (As in, the student body population was smaller than that of Creek's).
On Monday I went for a tour of St. Mary's, but they were out for Spring break. The first thing i noticed was that it was in a horrible part of town. Kinda creepy. There was one other mother-daughter on the tour, and she seemed to really like it. The people who were still there, seemed friendly, and would wave and such as we walked by. Something that was really quite nice though, was that as a Freshman, A Dell laptop is included in the admission price, and they have wireless internet all over the school, so you can go outside on nice days and work on stuff. They had an adopt-a-Brother program, where you could go visit with a Marian brother whenever. The class sizes were really small, I think she said 14-1. We even got to meet with a counselor. It seemed really easy to pretty much get a full scholarship there, so that was kinda cool...And usnews.com has the school ranked as #14 in the West. (They even had Take 5 Bars in their vending machines). They had a police station actually on the campus...Oh! somethign else that I thought was funny was that they have shirts and such that say things like "St. Mary's Football-still Undefeated" but they don't have a football team. It's just that in the 20's and such when they did, they never lost. Oh! and Dwight D Eisenhower was the football coach back in the day.
Tuesday I went to Trinity, It was weird, cuz on the tour i was the only girl-kid touring, the other 8 were guys and their parents. The people there seemed kinda snobby, and it was again, really small. It was a really pretty campus though, I think they said the teacher/student ratio was 10/1 or something like that. They were renovating some things. Something bad I thought was that you had to live on campus for 3 years, you couldn't get out of a dorm until you were a senior. usnews.com ranked it as the #1 college in the West, so that was kinda cool. It seemed harder to get into. Some lady on the tour with her son (her daughter is a freshman there) said that about 3 000 apply, and only 600 were accepted last year. She also said that some proffessors even give out their cell phone #'s. That was kinda cool.
But, as I said, they both were really small. Well, the campuses were spread out, but the student body population was about that of Creek....
Another nice plus though, is that they are both amazingly close to the Riverwalk. My mom and I went there Monday night for dinner and a little boat ride and such. It was really pleasant and I enjoyed it. We stayed at a B&B, too which was really nice. She had made delicious brownies...
So, that's that so far.
Oh, on the way back from the Y today, I witnessed the most amazing sunset. It wasn't one of the normal red and purple ones (anyways, i hear that's all pollution) but it was a light blue sky at the top, fading into this light pale orange. It was really nice and soothing.
I was going to go to Olive Garden today, but I decided not to. I might go sometime next week.
I'm looking around my walls and finding this quite boring. I think i'm gonna start slowly putting things up on them, and hope my parents don't really notice.
I might start another book tomorrow. Or do something if I have any free time. My weekend is completely booked!! It's kinda depressing.
Ooh, and as I read the Godfather, i found a lot of similarities between that and history. It talked about Harlem, and grafts, lots of "clean" grafts, whenever a "dirty" graft was involved there was umm...blood shed. But yeah, definitely stuff we learned about in history. It makes me want to interview an ex-mafia member for my oral report. So I'll probably interview Mrs. Julie. (She's not ex-mafia) but she grew up in NYC, and she grew up on the same block and going to school with mafia children. Kinda cool, eh?
Umm...okay, that's all I can think of for now. So I actually didn't think I had much to put up in a post, but I can always find stuff to post, and this has turned out to be a relatively long one, hope it keeps whoever reads these things amused/well, at leasts I hope it occupies somebody's boredom for at least 5 minutes.
Poetry.
I thought today would never end, but evidently, it's coming to an end a lot quicker than I thought it would. So I wish everyone an amazing-rest of Spring Break, and remember, when we go back to school, it's only 9 more school days until another legal Student break! Whoop! Go Good-Friday! (And a lot of people's Birthday's! Shannon, and Kristina's I know for sure...) And how depressing that I have school on mine...
Wow, I keep thinking I'm gonna end this thing, but now i believe I'll keep it up for the rest of the night and when anything comes to my head, and I'm not talking to anyone I'll write it here.
Wow, This is sad. I just put this entry in word to see how long it is, and it's over a page...By the end it will definitely be over 2 pages...in font size 10! How come when I'm writing a paper it takes forever to think of enough stuff to fit, double spaced, font 12/14? And now I can just write about nothing in particular for several pages? i guess that's just the way I am.
I'm gonna write a song about the next person who IM's me, it might be tomorrow, or in a coupla minutes, but that's what I'm gonna do...just for the heck of it. Hopefully it's not Heather, cuz I've already got a list of stuff that rhymes with her name, but nothing really fits for that.
ooh wait! I'll write a song about someone who responds to my journal entry. The first one, hear that? I'll write a song about you! How lucky are you? Orrr...the 3rd person to respond!! Like on radio shows. Now I'm gonna go back and read through all my other old entry's and see how much my life has changed since my first entry.
Th-th-th-th-that's all folks!
