grocery stores

For some reason, while Wikipedia surfing, I ran across the category of Supermarkets of the United States. I found a need to score myself on how many of them I've been to. (43 out of 210, for those interested.) New meme, maybe?

I count 22--though I'm sure I've been to others whose name I don't remember. Also, there is a separate Giant Chain (it might be the carlisle one) that I've been to, and D'Agastino's in New York. Also I've bought groceries at Target and Sam's Club.

I suppose the shortness of my list comes of always having lived in the mid-atlantic.

You have been to both Giant-Carlisle (in PA) and Giant-Landover (in DC). Giant Eagle is in Pittsburgh.

Woo, between yours and Christine's, I can add three to my list! I actually have also been to Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh.

Oh, that was to Andrea, not you. ;)

That said, you've probably been to Giant-Landover and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy when visiting us if you've been to grocery stores. Have you been to grocery stores in central PA to pick up Giant-Carlisle?

Actually, I believe I have. Family trip. I may be wrong, though...too many Giants! I'll take one off just in case. Far be it for me to exaggerate!

I think that in order to have a long list, you have to have traveled extensively throughout the US and done so cheaply by going to grocery stores instead of restaurants. Also by, for whatever reason, going to grocery stores when visiting friends, which apparently I have a penchant for doing.

I've also been to a lot of random grocery stores in England, Germany, Australia, and France. But they're not on the list. :)

I've been to a lot of these because I am cheap and have traveled extensively in the US, but I couldn't begin to remember the names of the stores. For instance, I visited some grocery chain in Arkansas one night, and another in Oklahoma a few hours later, but I would never be able to recognize the names (unless it was a Piggly Wiggly and that's only because that is the most awesome name of any store ever).

Also, Shop n Save is now officially Hannaford Brothers, which means this list should only be 209. Oh, and every Star Market and Shaws are actually the same now, too, so 208.
