Challenge Post: Where Landscape Meets Sky

Jan 26, 2008 17:03

I haven't decided which - if any - of my photos I'm going to put forward for voting but here are some that fit the theme, at least!

So, most of mine are old photos. I had an idea about what I wanted to take but the weather has been awful and we pretty much haven't had a sky other than haze. I could have done something with that, but it was wet and I was too miserable to try. Ha. I did get one shot taken specifically for the challenge, which was this one:

This is a cropped down version of a sunset on Blencathra. What drew me to it were the clouds but I don't think I got close enough (I just pulled into a layby on the way home to take this and snapped it pretty quickly) to make the most of them, nor have I nailed the colours or light. Maybe a longer shutter time? I don't know.

A few others are of the fells too -- from the summer. I'm always drawn to clouds and shadows, and these reflect that. Skiddaw before the cut, Blencathra and Castlerigg stone circle to follow:

Brough Marshes:

It's super-saturated, but I like the sense of movement in the sky and land. I think the cows sort of bind them together.

And then a couple of architecture shots. I struggled to find any where the sky was as important as the landscape, but I think these two fit the bill, even if they are a bit cliche:

I think these last two are more sky-centric than the challenge calls for, but I'm going to post them anyway:

That's me! XD
