Dear Diary.
Day 5.
Today we finished setting up base, I'm writting this while leaning against a pile of sandbags.
The locals and the villagers call our location Burgh. I asked a villager what it means, he kind of snickered and told me it translates to Dien Bien Phu. I have a very awful feeling about this.
Day 6.
We've been teaching the locals how to fight.
Lesson one. Recognizing the sound a tossed pebble makes.
Lesson two. Scanning.
Lesson three. Working as fire-teams.
Lesson four. Basic weapons safety.
Lesson five. Close combat.
Lesson six. Survival.
Lesson seven. Survival.
Lesson eight. Close Combat.
Lesson nine. Basic tactics.
Lesson ten. Specialized tactics.
Lesson eleven. Marksmanship.
Lesson twelve. Specialized weapons training
Lesson thirteen. Evasion and escape
Lesson fourteen. Torture resistance.
Lesson fifteen. Advanced survival, Advanced tactics, Advanced close combat, advanced everything really. And then a grueling training course to see if they remembered.
Lesson sixteen. NCO and Platoon leader training.
All these are interspersed with demanding drills.
I hear the Overlord's working on a Commando unit that will have the whole training the locals to fight as their primary focus.
Right now we're on lesson two. Personally I think we need some kind of anti-ether training. I don't care what our spooks say they can't be everywhere.
A scout just came running up, he was covered in blood and his team was dead.
Some rebel claiming to be the Bladelord had attacked them.
The base was in an uproar. I smell the sickly sweet taint of Ether and it took all the Lieutenant's will power just to collect his wits and tell higher-up what had happened.
I gathered my squad and we took off for Savh. My brother and his boys right behind us. We saw a farmkid. On a soapbox. Awkwardly holding a glowing sword and gesturing it with it. Sergeant Major Zorhau would have had a fit.
We quickly removed and hid our armor and gear. Then we grabbed some of the weapons we'd left in the village (For when they were trained enough to keep them) I hid in the thatch with a Sniper Rifle while Zerkus and Lenka made their way through the crowd to the soapbox. The rest of the boys positioned themselves in various (hard to find) spots.
The villagers were beginning to look a little drugged. Blasted ether.
I took aim at the group behind the farmboy and the box. The real power behind the throne, or soapbox. We needed information, so I just shot them all in the arms and legs.
Then Zerkus and Lenka ran up yelling something about the despicable Imperials had done this. They hauled the farmboy and his buddies off, telling them they'd take them somewhere safe and hide them from the empire.
Day 7.
We made a tent look something like quaint farmhouse and dumped the rebels in it. The farmboy told Lenka everything he knew, which wasn't much. The others just told her lies.
So we got creative, Zerkus helped me whip up some drugs and we served 'em that. They told us everything. So we sent the info higher-up.
The spooks came in, they took the prisoners, congragulated the lieutanant and then made me go with them.
The Overlord want's to see me.
Oh-
Day 8. Shaky, Overlord nice, but still frightening. More tomorrow.
