This is perfect! I'd just noticed a trend in a lot of fics (maybe a lot from the same group of authors?) where Clark sort of unconsciously settles himself at Lex's feet or in his lap, and Lex obliges but petting his hair (also mostly unconsciously). And I wondered how that would translate into future fic!

I'm definitely cackling at how this is a Lex that still doesn't remember, and so makes up reasons for why he and Superman have to be nemeses!

Eh, Smallville's got canon where people (e.g., Clark) not remembering who they are, exactly, yet still acting like themselves. There's precedent for Lex 'figuring things out' to suit his feelings. It works! ;)

*snicker* I can just see Lex melting under Clarks fingers. Oh Lois your screwed. Mutiual petting, plus Clark told Lex that Lex is better at it than Lois. She should really just give in now....

Loved grumply Lex and Lios bickering over an oblivious Clark. And Clark hovering in front of Lex, demanding that he resume petting now.
