idk, I don't see why Mystique CAN'T be her mom. The canon doesn't have anything in it to contradict it. (That said, I dig your confusion over it not being explicitly true.)

Well, she could be her dad, and her mom could have been Destiny, but it's more likely than not that they just scrapped all the good out of it. :/
