Dean paused and looked down at himself only to discover he was wearing the same clothes he had put on this morning. He smiled briefly before he noted the trees and the crackle of twigs and leaves beneath his shoes. A quick check of his pockets revealed nothing but a simple switch blade. He doubted it was even silver.

A man whimpered nearby and when Dean walked around the base of a sizable tree, he was alarmed to find what appeared to be a vampire trapped on the ground. Sam kneeled on the asphalt of a paved road holding up a vile to the orange glow of the streetlight and examined what appeared to be blood.

Dean stepped forward and took a closer look at the man on the ground. He snorted at the two overly large canines hanging over the man's bottom lip. His face was chalky white like the vampires in the movies and he struggled violently against a slim silver chain draped across his wrists and neck. The skin bubbled and burned along the chain. Dean wrinkled his nose when he caught a whiff of burning flesh. Sam put down the vile of blood and turned to the figure. He investigated the needle inserted into the vampire's arm. Dean stepped forward and paused when his foot scattered a number of vials across the dirt. They all appeared to be filled with blood.

"This was all I found in my pockets," Dean said, holding up the switch blade.

Sam shook his head. "I got nothing. You think we're the ones that did this to him? You think we poisoned him with dead man's blood?" Sam gestured toward a vial.

"Probably. No way the chain did this alone. Since when are vampires this allergic to silver?" Dean hunched down and looked at the man carefully. He looked weak, too weak to even fight but that didn't dim the hostility in his eyes. Dean flicked the knife open and smirked. "Maybe I'm Buffy," Dean grinned. "If that's the case a stake to the heart should do it. Otherwise things will get a little messy."

Dean raised the blade in the air when he was struck by a very heavy object from behind.

"Dean!" Sam yelled but it was too late to warn him. Dean groaned, certain that was going to bruise and thinking of a million ways he was going to kill that bastard trickster. He turned to find a petite blonde holding up a chain. Her tight, white shirt was pristine and it did little the hide her curvaceous figure.

Dean rose to his feet. "Are you crazy?" he yelled at her. She glared at him, holding the chain at the ready. "I was about to do you a favor!"

"Dean, put the knife down, I think she's human," Sam said behind him. He stood up carefully with his hands up in the air to show he was unarmed.

"You've gotta be kidding me," Dean put the knife down. He stood up slowly and raised his hands into the air to show he had no weapons. She eyed them both warily.

"Get out, now," she said.

Dean took a step forward, pausing again when she raised the chain. "I know this looks bad, but I don't think you have any idea what you're messing with. You don't wanna be on his bad side," Dean nodded toward the vampire.

"And don't even think about taking that blood," she ignored his comment.

Dean glanced at Sam over his shoulder. Sam lifted his brows and shrugged.

"You're planning to sell vampire blood, aren't you? Isn't that why you dragged him here to drain him?" her voice rose.

Dean and Sam paused.

"You think we're the bad guys?" Sam asked. "You mean you're trying to save the vampire?"

She laughed at him like this was obvious. Sam and Dean exchanged confused looks.

"Look girlie, I don't want to fight you okay, so go back inside and leave this to the big boys," Dean said. She met his gaze and made no sign of backing down.

"Dean, I could be wrong, but think we're going to have to play the bad guys. I think... we have to let her beat us."

Dean sighed, and looked over his shoulder at Sam.

"I'm going to get in the nuts, aren't I? That sonuvabitch," Dean muttered.
