SO.
IT IS FINALLY OUT.
I just squee-led seeing the cover and the side, not mentioning the bonus (oh, Arakawa, you have to stop joking about character's death, you know?) or...
Chapters 100-101, much more intense as I had the book in hand - I mean, this is not the same feeling when you read it online, because you can stop, put your nose on the page trying to read what's written on posters in the street, without the urge, the need to know what's happening next.
I know someone who read FMA only when the book officially comes up, aka every four or six months. How can she do that ? o_o
My guilty pleasure is to compare translations. So far, the scanlations one both in English and French, and official French and Italian versions. I'm on holiday soon so I'll finnaly be able to do a Royai grammar (temporary title xD).
This time it feels weird, regarding the way they made Goldteeth talk almost in slang - the perfect asshole !
Si la blondinette clamse, tu vas la faire revivre ? Je l'achève avec plaisir dans ce cas.
If Blondie pegs out, will you bring her back to life ? I that case I'll finish her off with pleasure.
Flûte, elle ne bouge plus. T'es morte, cocotte ?
Drat, she's not moving anymore. Are ya dead, sweetie ?
The scanlation gave him a more objective talk, don't you think ? I felt like he was talking like a doctor, just constating things, but here I wonder if the translator had something against him. However, the reader sympathizes even more with our lovebirds, so the moment you're all waiting for is really delightful.
(Livejournal won't upload the pics, so, it's the translaction of the HUG SCENE.)

Roy : Merci pour tout !!
Tanks for everything !!
Riza : Co...lonel... Je... Je suis désolée...
Co....lonel.. I... I'm sorry...
Roy : Ne parlez pas ! Reposez-vous !
Don't talk ! Rest !
(Note: in French we have two tranlations for "you" : "tu" (casual form, used with a friend, someone you know well) and "vous" (formal mode, used to show respect, hierarchy, and used when you don't know your interlocutor. In all the French version, Roy and Riza use "vous". Expect once, but this is another story !)
Riza : Merci d'avoir compris... Dans mon regard... Mon message...
Thanks for understanding... In my glare... My message...
Roy : C'est normal après toutes ces années.
It's natural after all this years. (WAIT. WHERE'S OUR "We've been together" ? D8)

Mei: Vous serrez trop fort, blessure va se rouvrir...
You hold too tight, wound gonna reopen... (In the French version, Mei doen't master our grammar subtleties.)
Roy: Le regard noir que vous me jetiez en disait long.
The way you were glowering at me was very meaningful.
" Si vous faites une transmutaion humaine, je reviens vous arracher les tripes. "
" If you perform human transmutation, I come back to tear you guts off. " (Lovely, isn't it ? I laughed for five minutes.)
This leads nowhere, but some details in the French translation changes just a little the atmosphere and I wanted to share it ;) I always wonder if we don't over-analyze sometimes, as we're shippers, but it seems that, no, it's even canon for translator !
