Woah, isn't that a Styx song from the 80s? Styx RULED. Anyways, I just wasted three hours of my life that I will never get back on FFIX, I didn't save it the ENTIRE time I was playing, and I went somewhere I wasn't supposed to, so my entire party got WIPED OUT by some bigass dragon, and POOF, there goes those three hours of my life, never to return. So that's swell, and I'm not ready to go to bed yet PLUS I'm pretty pissed off cuz I've just been sitting here thinking the past few hours (its possible to think alot and play a game at the same time, yes), so I'm going to make more lists. Today was really cool though, hung out with Anna and Brian, and despite the fact those two will probably end up together and I'll most likely be annoyed with that most of the time, it was alot of fun. Anna agreed to go with us to the symphony in november/december so now we won't look COMPLETELY gay when we get dressed up to go, now at least we'll have a pretty girl with us. She's even taking the day off for my birthday dinner in two weeks, which I really appreciate. It's just little things like that that I ask from my girl friends, so that's cool. Anyways, saw Wedding Crashers again, might even be funnier the second time through, Vince Vaughn reminds me of me in that movie sometimes because he talks so fast and gets excited about things so quickly like I do, and he says one line that TOTALLY reminds me of Dave, when he says "You leave me here in the fuckin' trenches, takin' grenades!". I actually think Dave HAS said that to me. Played some online chess with him which I am HORRIBLE at and talked to the really awesome 16 year old who I'll now call Elle (yes, I still dont know her real name. No, I don't really care, because shes awesome). I honestly can't remember the last time I've won a chess game. I'd say my record for chess is something like, 5/1673. I am WRETCHED. I don't have the patience for it, but I still like playing it. Ok, enough rambling to take my mind off of shit that is pissing me off (theres not alot really, just one big thing), on to the lists. Tonight (or this morning) we have:
TOP 50 BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME (subject to change, because you know me):
1. Howl's Moving Castle (see journal entry from two days ago.)
2. Before Sunset (and Before Sunrise. These movies are kinda just like one big movie. Before Sunset was better, but still, it's the same two characters in both.)
3. Lost in Translation (to anyone who says "but nothing HAPPENS in it!" just watch it and realize just how much is REALLY going on without being said. THATS why this movie is amazing.)
4. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
5. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (or, HEY! the kings back! INSIDE JOKE! LOL!)
6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (anyone who hasn't seen it, just go rent it now. There is nothing else like it.)
7. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
8. The Big Lebowski (most quoted movie of all time for me and my friends.)
9. Aladdin (yes, the disney movie. DO SOMETHIN!)
10. Braveheart (anyone who didn't get a chill down their spine when he screamed out FREEEEDOM! is a better person than I.)
11. Chasing Amy (has the best confession of love scene ever in it.)
12. Garden State (the second most believable romantic movie I've ever seen.)
13. Equilibrium
14. Gladiator
15. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (a fitting end.)
16. The Object of My Affection
17. Love Actually
18. Snatch
19. Office Space (the second most quoted movie by my friends and I.)
20. Spirited Away (another Miyazaki one)
21. Rocky IV (yep, I went there. A Rocky movie almost made my top 20.)
22. Dead Man on Campus (the third most quoted movie by me, and one that I CAN'T FIND ON DVD.)
23. Spanglish
24. Happy Gilmore
25. The Matrix: Reloaded (c'mon. Those twin guys were badass, the car chase has never really been topped, it was an amazing movie.)
26. The Last Samurai
27. Kill Bill Volume 1 (most violent movie ever.)
28. Sin City (second most violent movie ever. It's not often I'll see the same movie all three days of the weekend.)
29. Interview with a Vampire (tom cruise and brad pitt at their best.)
30. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (SO MANY THINGS BLEW UP IN THIS MOVIE! And I couldn't have a top movie list without at least one movie with Ah-nuld.)
31. Good Will Hunting (this has one of the best speeches given to a best friend ever. Holy crap...Ben Affleck has been the best part of two of these movies. But I hate him!)
32. Dumb and Dumber (fourth most quoted movie ever.)
33. The Grudge (scariest movie of all time. Go ahead and pick on me, this movie STILL freaks me out, just looking over at the COVER on my bookcase full of DVDs scares me.)
34. Pulp Fiction (fifth most quoted movie.)
35. The Love Hina Christmas Special (I don't even know if I can count this as a movie, but it's by far the best thing ever done about Christmas, so I'm counting it.)
36. The Usual Suspects (fuck the sixth sense, THIS movie originated the craze for twist endings. And THIS ending was awesome.)
37. Fight Club
38. Amelie (if any movie could be considered "magical", its this movie.)
39. Donnie Darko (not many movies will still make you think about just WHAT were they all about a few years after seeing it. This movie will.)
40. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
41. Go
42. Seven (the first real scary movie I ever saw {unless Scream was out before this?}, and man, what a good start.)
43. Heat (probably has the best shootout of any movie.)
44. Finding Neverland (for anyone who still has a childlike imagination.)
45. Mystic River (Sean Penn does arguably the best acting job I have ever seen in this movie.)
46. Big Fish (Tim Burton=genius.)
47. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom (so violent. And its rated PG!)
48. Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers
49. The Ring (second scariest movie ever.)
50. The Lion King
WOAH, ok, so I got carried away on that list. I couldn't just do a top 10, there were too many good movies. The top 20, now thats accurate, but from 21-50, it could be a little bit out of order. For instance, I like Amelie more than Happy Gilmore. I might fix it later. I was going to do another list, but seeing as its 6:15 am now, I'm going to bed now. I'm also lj-cutting this so no one gets mad, HAHA.
