We're back. It was a great trip, and I'm staying awake against my will (sort of) just a little longer so I can try to be back on Chicago time tomorrow.
The trip was great, and I'll be posting lots of photos and some sort of proper account of the trip in the next few days for anyone who's really bored. For now, a few particulars:
- London is quite a beautiful city. I don't know what a typical London flat looks like (probably tiny and atrociously expensive), but just in terms of seeing the place, I could imagine living there.
- QI was great. Seriously, a crapload of fun. I came away a fan of Johnny Vegas, which I never would have expected.
- I managed to let stargazzy take me up in the London Eye (pictured above), and I neither threw up, nor did my knees knock embarrassingly. It was pretty cool, in fact.
- Cornwall ice cream. If the Frozen Delights Tour goes worldwide, we're stopping there for a week. YUM. Pasties are good too.
- We met up with a camp friend of stargazzy's from back in the halcyon California days. I expected it to be fine, but it turned out to be a great pleasure. The friend and her fiance were extremely generous, friendly, and nerdy in just the right way.
- Speaking of nerdy, sitting in front of the TV watching Doctor Who with the entire rest of the UK was also fun.
- We declined seeing that Bad Man Derren Brown, but we did see a very good show, The 39 Steps.
There's a lot more, of course, but I think it's about time to succumb to sleepies. Suffice it to say I can recommend England in May. OK?
