Ladies' S- ... Stitch'n'Bitch, Wednesday Evening, 13 Griffin Way

Apr 08, 2009 14:51

iss Elizabeth Bennet was nearly finished with the arrangements for that evening's Sewing Circle -- she refused to call it by its other, more vulgar name -- when a knock at the door signaled the arrival of her first guest.

"Good evening," she said, pulling the door open and offering Dr. Tam a respectful bow of her head. "Do please come in, sir."

Dr. Tam
"Thank you!" Simon said. "I hope I'm not too early. It seems like my watch has malfunctioned."

Miss Bennet
"Not at all," she said easily. "Everything is arranged, and I am delighted that you are here. I hope your watch is one that might be easily repaired?"

She closed the door behind Simon, oblivious to the fact that another guest had scampered in, as well. Much smaller, and certainly uninvited.

Dr. Tam
"Perhaps I will get a new one," he replied, equally oblivious. Of course, Miss Bennet was a very charming hostess, one that made him a little nervous. "So, how was your week? I'm sorry I was unable to stop by last week. There were zombies."

Miss Bennet
"Rather unfortunate, that," Miss Bennet agreed, wrinkling her nose distastefully. "I was quite concerned that someone might have been injured on their way here. I should have felt responsible, in some measure."

She hesitated, there in the doorway to the study. "Do you hear something?"

Dr. Tam
"You could not be expected to keep everyone safe," Simon pointed out. "And perhaps I'm not the bravest of men but I pride myself with knowing my limits." He smiled. "I hope you have recovered from the past week."

Miss Bennet
"No, indeed," she allowed. "But had I known the undead walked the streets, I would have canceled, so as not to place anyone in harm's way. I told my students that it wasn't cowardice, to choose one's safety over other concerns. Recklessness would only have added t--"

She gasped, jerking her leg quickly, and falling onto a conveniently close chair. "Something bit me," she insisted. Decorum would not have allowed for her to pull her skirt upward in this manner, showing off her bare calf, but he was a medical doctor, and she needed to see the mark.

Dr. Tam
Simon crouched next to her, frowning. As he leaned forward to examine the mark - what could have bitten her? - he felt a sting of pain in on of his fingers. A little green creature scurried away. "What... what was that?" he asked, bewildered.

Miss Bennet
"I don't know," Miss Bennet said, though there was a decidedly uneasy tone to her voice. She had glimpsed something fast and green. "I pray it was not what I fear."

Her head was swimming. Perhaps it hadn't been a gremlin at all, but some other creature. A poisonous lizard. Miss Bennet wondered quite earnestly if she would rather be sick, or entirely out of her wits.

Which was, perhaps, ridiculous to consider. It was not as though she would be receiving a choice.

Dr. Tam
Simon had not been in Fandom long enough to be acquainted with gremlins. He looked at the bite marks on his fingers. "And what do you fear?" he asked, worried.

Miss Bennet
It was difficult to think, with how terribly dizzy she was feeling. "On Sunday," she said, "when we ... confronted the zombies. Each team had ... with us, that is to say ..."

She clapped a hand over her mouth, suddenly convinced that she was going to be ill. "You must excuse me," she insisted, bolting for the door. There was a washroom very nearby; she could hope to reach it.

Dr. Tam
Surprised and confused, Simon stood up, and then had to lean against the wall to support himself. What kind of poison was this?

Having stared down at the floor and breathing heavily for a few seconds, he then resolutely dug a handkerchief out of his pocket, tied the corners and placed it on his head. He also put on a pair of glasses and a fake moustache.

"I AM A BRRAAIN SPECIALIST!"

Miss Bennet
Heavy, clomping footfalls announced Miss Bennet's return. She had similarly obtained a handkerchief for her head, glasses, and a toothbrush mustache. She was also holding her arms down in a particularly unladylike manner, and her hands were clenched into fists.

"DOCTOR!" she shouted, not seeming to see Simon though he was right in front of her. "DOCTOR! DOCTOR! WHERE'S THE DOCTOR!"

She picked up a pillow from the nearest chair and flung it, and then overturned the chair itself. Perhaps the doctor was underneath?

(OOC: OH YES. Simon and Lizzy are now Gumbys. (Gumbies?) Open to absolutely anyone who would like to stop in and gawk and/or join the Gumby-ing. GUMBYS FOR ALL. Wait for the OCD, please! OCD UP. GAME ON!)
