Reaction to TW:CoE - Day One

O.M.G.

I need to rewatch it again right now, OMG!

1. I really sort of love Ianto's sister's family. She's just so very big sister-y. His "coming out" bit was my favourite scene in the episode, I think. As for the niece and nephew, the visiting-prolly-not-enough-Uncle-Ianto act and routinely giving money to make up for it--yeah, that's the kind of aunt I'm going to be, methinks. And who DOESN'T want that obnoxious and delightful brother-in-law of his? The chucking of bricks at the stolen SUV cracked me up, I admit it. Ianto-back-story thus far? Approved.

2. Believe it or not, I kind of actually like Gwen right now. I was getting nervous when she scanned herself at the end, but the fact she actually turns out to be happy about it? Yeah, she won me over some. Also, we've apparently discovered a way that actually works while attempting to keep her from throwing herself into doing something stupid: remind her that she's pregnant. :P (Also, Rhys is still Luv.)

3. Alright. I admit, as much as I actively went out of my way to avoid possible spoilers, I heard the rumours about Jack having a daughter in this. I figured, 'yeah, okay. That would make a lot of sense, actually.' So, that wasn't a big surprise. The having-a-grand-son bit was mildly surprising, though. And, even though, yes, she seemed mean while saying it, I absolutely understand Alice's wanting Jack to keep his distance. I mean, seriously bad shit happens to people in and involved with Torchwood. It's just a fact. (Also, on a somewhat-related note, congratulations to both Alice and Rhiannon for saying 'screw that' when Jack and Ianto asked about taking the kids out. Sensible TV parents, at long last. Finally, thank you.)

4. I'm not sure what to think about Home Office or whatever-they-were-called yet. I reserve judgement on them for the moment. I want to call Bastards!, but I need to hear their reasoning and justifications first.

5. Rupesh being The Guy? Totally got me. I didn't suspect him of anything for a second right up until he shot Jack. Good actor. I think I might be glad he's dead, though.

6. I'm also reserving judgement on Louise. Annoying or not? The decision will be made, but not tonight.

And finally, 7. I was totally cheering and bouncing in my seat when Clem/Tim ran away at the end. Smart, smart, crazy man, good for you! I'm really quite liking Clem/Tim. I hope to see him sniffing more people again soon. ^___^

Being in Canada, and unable to watch it on any of my native TV channels until July 20 (on Space--and yes, I will be re-watching it then), I watched it here: http://www.zshare.net/video/62317348b042ddd8/

And on a completely unrelated note: I got my Harry Potter midnight showing ticket today, w00t!
