Will an extra click of the mouse bother you that much?
Pam, Nikos & I planned a beach day for the 1st of July. Over 30 emails exchanged in the span of 1 hour. Decisions about where? when? who to invite? Finally, the evite was sent.

Up until the end of June, no one had responded yes. "Will an extra click, YES or NO? bother you that much, that you can't do it?" Apparently so. However, we were given verbal confirmations that people were attending. We went shopping for groceries, and spent the night "tuhoging" Pam's kebobs, packing the food, water guns, and the "tent".

Pam and I got about 3 hours of sleep, we picked up Nicole, and along with Tricia we ended up at Ashbridges Bay at about 10am. Then the DILEMMA.

"No more picnic tables!"

After running around for 30 minutes, Pam saw a lone, almost old Japanese man, serenely reading his paper, steps from the parking lot. One man, THREE picnic tables. BINGO! She tried to convince him that a third table was no use, at least for him, and asked him if she can take it. No such luck. It was a psychological battle I tell ya. One against One. Then the two other beeyotches came to the rescue. After about 5 minutes, another member of the male species was victim to our intrinsic female nagging. (Cue Field of Dreams, voice from the sky) "If you give the table, they will leave".

Finally, surrounded by trees, we set up shop. We had shade all day, and no one could really walk into our area unknowingly. Steps away from a spare vball court. Steps away from the boardwalk. The BEST spot on the beach.

Speed up time here - about 2 hours later

The boys came, with the grill, we ate, hung out, played vball, muckers, threw the football around, waterfights, Sheesha (sp?), unravelled a "tent" that turned out to be a closet, too many cigarettes, laughed about a laugh that Tricia invented, had ice cream, burgers, kebobs, hotdogs, chicken, ultimate frisbee, played with dogs, watched Tushar and Matt wrestle each other, passed out playground cards, took pictures, almost got into a fight with a group from another vball court. During this time, many people stopped by and hung out.

Thank goodness we had enough food and drinks. But then again, to enter our area, you had to have brought something to share.

As soon as sunset hit, we cleaned up, chilled out and waited for the fireworks to begin. Fun, awesome fireworks. (I'm glad he brought that sheesha pipe, everyone bonded over that thing; even though it looks like an illegal candelabra.)

All in all it was the greatest Canada Day ever. Great friends, awesome weather, funtimes.

Sidenote: Pam & I were talking about how BLESSED we truly are. Yesterday, you felt like you were with family; As if you've known them forever. Even the boy, I felt like he's been there since day one; I've only known him for a month. For yesterday to have happened, you needed a team of boys and girls like ours to carry it, to pull it through. Everyone contributed to its success, and no doubt everyone felt it too!

Thank you Canada, for having a birthday. Thank you to everyone who was there. It wouldn't have been the same without you. To those who missed it, we missed you, and I hope your July 1st was just as great.

(Will post the pics as soon as the camera quits being moody)
