Knowledge As Power > Slavery As Power
Mistress decided that we could all actually stand to learn something today. :O I was almost too shocked to pay attention. Apparently the subject for discussion today was economics, a topic I find to be quite interesting. Clarissa had to ruin it on principle, I suppose.
The arrogant cow stood up and said that since slaves were not paid, worked all day, and cost barely a pittance to keep fed and watered, then the more slaves you had = the more money you made off their sweat and the more power you accumulated using that money. So, in short, slavery can = power, since power is arbitrary and mutable in itself and can be almost anything depending on want and/or need. According to Clarissa, this meant that all a man needed to become rich and influential was to own many slaves, and the best future for a girl was to marry such a slaveholder.
I could not stand for it, seeing as how anti-slavery-blasphemy I am. One thrown inkwell and six whippings later, I fear that Jacky has rubbed off on me more than I thought.
Speaking of Jacky, I am looking forward to working out...certain...issues that have arisen between us. :D She need not worry about a thing, and that is not something you hear everyday from a gloomy lady like me to a reckless one like her.
