Interhouse Ravenclaw Recs

Dec 24, 2011 15:15

Ravenclaw certainly did well for itself in the interhouse_fest 2011. Not only Luna, but Cho, Anthony, Padma, Michael, Professor Flitwick, and even the House Founder herself, Rowena Ravenclaw, found themselves in starring roles in various art and fics.

Title: Starving hysterical naked
Artist:
jakuako
Characters: Rowena Ravenclaw, Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin
Prompt number: 239
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: None
Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Artist’s Notes: To my prompter, I’m sorry I didn’t use your suggested pairings, but this prompt just screamed founders to me; I hope you like it anyway. I imagine the quote as something Helga might’ve said as she watched her friends’ relationships deteriorate over time. I also imagine that afterwards, she’s left alone as the sole Headmistress of Hogwarts. The cause of this scene could be sexual or not, it’s really up to viewer interpretation; I won’t tell you what I think. :) Enjoy!

Title: Like Invisible Strings
Author/Artist:
and_backagain
Characters: Harry/Luna, some canon-level Ron/Hermione
Prompt number: 101
Word Count: 4,970
Rating: PG
Warnings: None!
Summary: The next night, unpacking his trunk, he discovers that he's forgotten his spare set of quills, his last bag of Chocolate Frogs, and his Transfiguration book. Wrapped in a pair of his old socks, though, is the mirror, which Harry had snatched down from the window the moment he'd seen Dumbledore arrive. A Harry&Luna take on Book 6, in which Luna gives Harry a gift, Harry spends quite a lot of time determinedly not thinking about one thing or another, and Hermione despairs of his common sense.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter does not belong to me, nor does anything or anyone you recognize from it. A few of the lines of dialogue in this fic are taken directly from Half-Blood Prince, and those also (perhaps even especially!) do not belong to me. The title of this fic, incidentally, also does not belong to me, and was taken from a song on The Muppets called "I'm Going To Go Back There Someday."

Title: A War of Words (1/2)
Author:
gin_again
Characters: Neville/Hannah, Parvati/Pansy, Ernie/Padma, Seamus/Michael, one-sided Lavender/Michael
Prompt number: #9
Word Count: 12,171
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: language, implied M/M and F/F relationships
Summary: The members of Dumbledore’s Army spent two weeks hiding in the Room of Requirement before Harry arrived. These are their stories, as told by their own notes and letters.
Disclaimer: The world belongs to Rowling; I just play in it.
Author’s Notes: The idea for this story came from the brilliant novel Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty, and my over-zealous muse originally envisioned grand plans to turn all the notes and letters into images. But then I realized the story was over 12,000 words and my brain exploded. But I want to hugely thank M, who provided me with swift and excellent beta work when plans changed; all remaining errors are my own. And all the respect, admiration and love in the world to
fiery_flamingo and
leigh_adams, who were patient beyond words with me despite the mad extensions and plan changes. Best. Mods. Ever.

Title: Lost in Translation
Author:
fiery_flamingo
Characters: Percy Weasley/Cho Chang
Prompt number: #157
Word Count: ~1000

Author’s Notes: Thanks to my awesome beta, L, for her speedy and concise work and
nessismore for the prompt!

Title: Something Blue

gwendy1

Warnings: Strong language, adult content.
Summary: Post-war AU: Luna’s on a search for an elusive magical creature she is certain exists - the Blue-Haired Bipsy. But the only person known to have seen any such animal is one of the Malfoy ancestors, who mentioned so in their journals. Will Draco Malfoy be willing to help her?

Author’s Notes: Heaps of gratitude go to S for being such an awesome beta! Thank you. ♥ And lots of thanks to
pagan_toon76 the lovely prompt!

Title: The Lucky Two
Author:
lar_laughs
Characters: Rowena Ravenclaw/Helga Hufflepuff (with a command performance by Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor)
Prompt Number: #126
Word Count: ~8900
Rating: R
Warnings: Domestic violence, angst, character death
Summary: Rowena's life, summed up in three parts.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Founders or any other character from the Harry Potter books. Those are owned by JK Rowling and Scholastic Books.
Author's Note: The title and lyrics at the top of each part are from The Lucky Two by Missy Higgins. I hope this isn't too angsty for prompter but I couldn't resist the idea that took over my brain when I heard this song on my iPod while washing the dishes. Much thanks and love to my beta, Aster. I took liberties with Rowena's life but did it with good intent.

Title: Shattered Ornaments

liliths_requiem
Characters: Horace Slughorn, Filius Flitwick, Poppy Pomfrey, Pomona Sprout, Albus Dumbledore, Madame Pince, Fabian Prewett, Gideon Prewett, Aberforth Dumbledore
Prompt number: 268
Word Count: 2100
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Harsh dialogue, questionable morals, fall from grace for many professors
Summary: 21 drabbles chronicling the three wars faced by the Wizarding world during the twentieth century, as seen by the professors.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of its merchandise, characters, plots, or history. This story was written for enjoyment purposes.
Author’s Notes: I really like how this came out, even if it does move away from the prompt. Thanks so much to K for being an amazing beta, and thanks to the mods for holding this fest :)

Title: This Guy Walked Into a Pub…
Author:
luvscharlie
Characters: Anthony Goldstein/Lavender Brown
Prompt number: #193
Word Count: 1,673
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Language and an annoying barkeep.
Summary: When you need a quiet place to study, a pub really isn't your best option.
Disclaimer: I own nothing. I just like to play with them.
Author’s Notes: Thank you to M. for the beta, despite the fact I had you doing it late at night, on a work night, and you don't even like HP.

Title: Flights of Fancy
Author:
namelessamelie
Pairing: Draco/Cho
Prompt number: 164
Word Count: 5,514
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: N/A
Summary: Sometimes you get tired of being with heroes.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, there was absolutely no profit made from the writing of this story. Everything in the Potter-verse is J.K. Rowling’s and not mine.
Author’s Notes: Thank you to
agirlnamedtruth for the opportunity to write such a rare (but intriguing!) pair-and also for the great prompt, which I used as my summary. Thank you also to my beta and, last but not least, to the wonderful mods, who have done an amazing job with this fest!

Title: The Hiding Place
Author/Artist:
ofankoma
Characters: Ginny/Luna
Prompt number: #125
Word Count: 5,800 words
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Language
Summary: He hid them. Hid them both.
Disclaimer: None of these characters are mine and no copyright infringement is intended. Thanks, JKR, for creating a wonderful world to play in.
Author’s Notes: The original prompt was this: in their sixth year, they find themselves hiding together from the Carrows (would love to see Ginny break down and Luna comfort her). In the spirit of this Fest, I wanted to present characters from all four houses, assuming that the Carrows were Slytherins. Then the questions remained: What would Luna find comforting? How would she share it with Ginny? Beta readers are gloriously generous people… I wish we were allowed to thank them here by name! (Thanks all the same.)

Title: Laying Tom To Rest
Author:
pettybureaucrat
Characters: Ginny/Luna, Harry/Ginny, Ginny/OFCs, implied Harry/Luna
Prompt number: 206
Word Count: ~8900
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Femmeslash, Violence, Language, Abuse
Summary: After surviving her sixth year with help from Luna and others, Ginny discovers an old ‘friend’ has returned to haunt her. Harry doesn’t seem interested or is he?
Disclaimer: All recognizable characters and locations are the property of JK Rowling.
Author’s Notes: Thanks to R. I’ve always wondered just how dead Tom Riddle really was as far as Ginny was concerned.

Title: Friends Unseen
Author:
philote_auctor
Characters: Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood
Prompt number: #161
Word Count: 1,355
Rating: PG
Warnings: Spoilers for Chamber of Secrets
Summary: There is a stretch of time when Ginny thinks Tom Riddle is her only friend. Luckily, that is not the case.
Disclaimer: The characters and situations of Harry Potter do not belong to me. I make no money from this story. Please don’t sue.
Author’s Notes: Written for
interhouse_fest, for Prompt #161: “Ginny is comforted by the Ravenclaw girl, knowingly or unknowingly, as she is struggling with the effects of Riddle's diary.” Italics indicate Ginny’s diary entries; the bolded bits are Tom’s part of the conversation.
