no Halloween for me

Tuesday:
Halloween: went to work in orange in black since The Firm is too repressed to let us wear costumes. I came home and immediately started filling out online application forms, finding deadlines and getting all the paperwork sorted out for my professors to write my letters of recommendation.

I have learned that university websites are almost universally designed to be confusing and now hypothesize that this is part of the process: if you aren’t smart enough to find the forms and deadlines in our e-labyrinth, you OBVIOUSLY don’t belong here.

I was finding and filling forms from 4:45 to 11:30 pm. Now, my greatest fear is that I won’t go to heaven or hell, but instead will end up in purgatory where I’m forced to fill out ENDLESS paperwork before I can move in either direction.

So, Halloween went entirely unobserved. Gwyneth and I had tentatively planned to be really crazy and go out to study wearing costumes. Wow! Crazy!

Last year’s Halloween was vastly superior in every imaginable way and I’m sad I didn’t celebrate. Apparently there was a shooting in the Castro, though, so it’s probably for the best I wasn’t there. . . .
