Our heros find themselves in what might be a lush, forest-like area. A quick look about will tell them that they're not in Kansas anymore - although their feet are remaining firmly planted on the ground, they are sensing something pulling them upwards. Like, you know, maybe gravity. There is a dim red sun above them at high noon in the night sky ( Read more... )

Otto hasn't had a good day, and the evening's PINpoint scavenger hunt has only worsened his mood. By the time he reaches this next location on the list, he's cursing a blue streak and almost hoping that they'll find a tombstone marked "Here Lies That Fool, Li".

"..cking... oh. Great. We're on an alien world. This almost reminds me of the time I spent on the Beyonder's planet."

He glances around, waiting for Caleb to arrive.

Caleb poofs in moments afterwards, and frankly, he looks pissed too. He has been swearing nonstop too. It should be noted that neither of them has Tourettes'.

"Where the hell are we? Lowered gravity... hm." This is not the first time Caleb has dealt with such a thing, but that does not mean he likes it. Especially when not in a 'mech. He feels -naked- when not in the Nexus and not in a 'mech.

"Well... looks like we head towards those buildings there." With a shrug, he starts towards them, one hand on the vibrosword at all times.

'Those buildings over there are' not really state-of-the-art architecture. They're huts made out of mud and grass. Upon approaching closer, it seems that the inhabitants are ape-like mammilian beings with large eyes, adapted to seeing in the near-darkness. They will likely see Caleb and Ock before Ock and Caleb can see them.

Fortunately, they don't look openly hostile and a lot of them seem to be children. A few of the stronger and older beings may creep up to investigate the travelers if they approach too closely.

"...probably do not speak anything we do, I suppose. Worth a try, though." He looks as if he is about to say something, and then stops.

"Do we even know what we are looking for? I mean, Rei could be in at least three different forms now. We ask them about Li, quiaff?"

Otto follows, tentacles quiverring under his coat. "We may as well.... perhaps if we're lucky, the locals will be cannibals who have eaten young Mr. Chang."

As they enter the village, it becomes clear that there are no werewolf battles taking place here. If Li is present, though, he's not running out to greet them just yet.

"Locals..." the doctor observes. "I don't know if we'll be able to communicate with them, but we may as well. Right now, recovering Li is the most important part. Did you want to try? You look more approachable..."

The locals are a lot shorter than humans, but just as much lacking in body hair and very pale. A larger one comes cautiously up to Ock and Caleb and watches them for a moment. Hey, the tall, small-eyed things are trying to communicate! Well, with each other. But they look intelligent, at least.

The being (which might, for all you know, be the leader of this clan) looks at Ock and Caleb like, O.o

And then it tries to say something in a commanding voice. It is, of course, higher-pitched than most humans' but from the tone it seems that it might be saying something like, 'Halt! Who goes there!' or whatever. But you do not understand. There are clicks involved, as well as sproinging noises.

Caleb stares blankly. He has no idea what they just said. He does, however, put the vibrosword AWAY, which is a definite start.

And then he glances over at Otto helplessly. "Um. Uh. We... come in peace?" It's a start, isn't it? Really?

The being gets a look like, :O! on his/her face, and turns to the others.

"PEAS~!" \o/

The village cheers. Caleb, who knows what you just said?

Otto looks a little nervous, but hopes that Caleb's declaration isn't going to get them wrapped up in some sort of local idiocy...

"Em... yes. Peace. We are looking for a young man, about this size," he explains, gesturing with his hand, "and with dark hair. He may have been taken here by a pale girl."

Caleb sighs. He is not in a good mood and he is trying his damnedest not to explode on these poor creatures. "Ha--" And then Otto asks the question that he was going to anyway, except more eloquently.

He hasn't done anything harmful yet, but Caleb does look nervous, worried, and unhappy. Today sucks. ._

Jack Harkness is not a happy man at the moment. He hasn't been a happy man for a very long time, actually, but is just exceptionally good at hiding it. At the moment - having just teleported in from the PIN coordinates provided - he looks quite as old as he feels, worn down, frayed at the edges, and (as it's the flavor of the day) pissed.

He tests the earth under his feet, notes the surroundings and the general way the gravity feels different than what he's used to, and takes a few deep breaths to test the amount and consistency of oxygen available. A lack of oxygen didn't effect him to any large degree, he couldn't exactly die, but those he was traveling with might find not breathing a little...uncomfortable?

He waits until the rest of his traveling party arrives before picking up the obvious trail left by (he assumes) Caleb and Otto - heading in the general direction of the crude village on the clearly alien planet. Though he's looking like he's seen better days, Captain Harkness is suddenly in his element. He lives for this kind ( ... )

Phoenix is close behind, grumbling. "What the hell was up with all that, going to a garbage can in the middle of the city..." He's feeling very chain-jerked at the moment, but at least they're in the right place now, right?

...somewhat. Man, this place looks crazy. At least the last time he went offworld, it seemed normal. This place? Not so much.

He follows Jack. "This place... it's pretty weird, isn't it?"

Miles follows after Phoenix, letting the other attorney do most of the complaining for him. Considering Miles doesn't talk much anyway, he does the observation instead. Glancing around, getting used to the weird gravity, making sure he doesn't do anything stupid to injure his arm again.

Things like that.

"I believe that is an understatement." Idle comment to Phoenix as they walk along.

Gumshoe was pinned in with the rest, having clung onto Edgeworth. "...Did someone drug my drink earlier, or are we all seeing the same thing?" The man asked as he's flailing and adjusting to the weird gravity.

The beings pause in their cheering to stare at Ock quizzically. Although the motion that Ock made for Li's height is short for a human it is quite tall for a... whatever these things are.

They mutter amongst themselves in their strange language, theories being passed around as to what the giants are looking for. Another, smaller giant, perhaps? Certainly no one in this village is that tall. The beings are shaking their heads and generally attempting to communicate, 'sorry, your princess is in another castle' when they see.... MORE GIANTS.

OHNOES, COULD IT BE AN INVADING ARMY? The big-eyed monkey-things are confused and disturbed! :O

Otto waits and watches the aliens discuss the situation, quickly realizing that their language is incompatible. When they become alert, though, he quickly turns to see the source of their upset, and is surprised to discover the new arrivals in the party.

"Ah! Mr. Harkness... I see that you and the others were able to find your way here. We've had no luck, and I'm not sure if the locals understood our attempts at communication."
