Does anyone know if there are any places around Cleveland where you can be paid to donate plasma/blood?

. . . God, I feel horrible asking that.

There is a place on West 25th St. Come early -- I biked down there a few years ago when I needed some cash, and was too late to get in.

Zlb Plasma Service

Awesome, thanks!

I'd rather donate donate instead of get paid to do it (it just seems wrong to me) -- but I kind of need whatever money I can get at the moment until I can find a job.

Look at it this way: the companies that run the plasma collection centers sell the products that they make from the plasma they take from you for FAR more than they pay you, so it is OK to get paid for it. Donating to the Red Cross is good, though.

I've tried to do the plasma thing twice, and it never worked out. I found that selling scrap metal actually paid more, and the only blood involved was when I would get cut on a sharp corner, lol. Takes a bit more work though.

Good Luck to you!

I've thought about doing this too, and that's the place my parents told me to go to. It's legit, been around for a long time. There's a website too. Good luck!

Get to that plasma center EARLY if you don't feel like spending all day in da ghetto. The workers are ghetto and so are 80% of the donors. In fact, I'm half scared of what some of the people donating may or may not have lied about on their initial assessments so far as what diseases they may have. Also, if you don't like a lot of street-speak "mothafucka this and that" stay away.

You get $25 first time of the week $35 the second time, less depending on your weight. When I've needed $$ I reluctantly go, don't touch anything, get in and get out, period. It's a busy place, it could be open 24/7 and have a crowd, but it's a scary crowd.

And before anyone says I'm racist - I am white and there are a other white people who go to the center. They're either just as eager to get in and out as I am, or talking trash like any of the other races and colors there. It isn't confined to one demographic, but don't get me started on that subject.

Bottom line? Go only if the pawn shop or scraping isn't an option.

I know that what you wrote was your personal opinion, but I'd like to say that I HIGHLY doubt the place would still be in business after 20-something years if they were passing around diseases. Even if someone lied on their intake assessment, they test the blood/plasma before they use it, and the equipment is all sterile.

It may be located in the "ghetto" but I believe it's a respectable way to get some extra cash. It does in fact help people, and is probably much less dangerous than scrapping.
