Spring Break and Vocation Decisions

Wow! That's the best word I can think of to describe it. I was supposed to go to CO to go snowboarding with a couple of friends and that fell through. I looked into going to Mexico mission trip because for some reason I thought God was calling me out to the desert, but it didnt really work out. My household brother then suggested that I come with him to a Benedictine monastery in PA. I was all set to go and go do a monastic life style over break and maybe do some discerning about religious life (have been trying to be more open to it), but I didn't end up going. Thursday before spring break my buddy Lowell comes up to me and asks if it's possible if I could or wanted to come on the NEW Mexico mission trip. I said to give me an hour. I went to lunch talked to a few people and prayed for a bit and decided to give it a shot. They interviewed me, accepted (cancelled their other interview), and I declined going to the monastery.

So much happened. Talked to a lot of high school kids, and all of it was very providential. The Mon or Tues that we got there a students mom died of cancer sadly so a ton of teachers and students were gone to the funeral. The group of 4 of us who were to go the highschool then were supposed to cover in their absence. I came up with the idea of teaching a class like that like the morning of. I wanted to go teach a gym class, but I got beat to the punch so instead I got a full class of 9th graders. I came in there armed with a single question (Heinz's dilemma) and ended up doing a philosophy lecture for a full hour and half. I apparently held the attention of the class very well and it was very dynamic. It's funny because Grace and John came in there to "save" the students from my philosophy lecture and it turned out the opposite of what they expected. My friend John commented that as excited as the students were, I was ten times more excited. My vocation has thus been confirmed. I am so excited. This also means nay on the priesthood and yay on being married ;) A guy I really got to know on the mission Matt was telling me how awesome it is when we find out how we are to use our gifts. I second his sentiment verily.
