Since I'm working the graveyard shift at the Fishbowl and have nothing to do I shall write a bit on how my classes are going.
German 101: I'm enjoying German, it's not as hard as Spanish and Japanese was, the class is made up of cool people, and my instructor is really cool. She makes really interesting lessons and understands when I have trouble with a lesson because I don't understand it or have a bunch of other deadlines to take care of. Also, the course director sends out some great
videos.
Acting 101: I LOVE this class! It's fun and the work isn't too bad. The group is really cool too, the majority of the class seems to be non-theater majors taking the class because a)they're a music major and need the performance credits for graduation b)they're in LSA and need the Humanities credits for graduation but mostly it's c) we really like theater and took the class for fun which give the class a really good vibe, that we actually want to be there instead of taking it because we have to. There are a few sorority girls in out class but they're actually intelligent and cool people, not the one-dimensional dolls I see elsewhere on campus. Our professor if f-ing amazing, her name is Sara-Jane Gwillim, she is British and been in huge Broadway and London plays so she really knows her shit and loves what she does, and she sounds like Merry Poppins :). I was talking to a friend of mine (Jenna) who is in the Acting 101 after mine and she said people actually get into fights over who loves Sara-Jane more.
English 239: I initially thought this class was going to suck hard, the first day of class there were a lot of sorority girls talking about a potential Communications major (never a good sign, the Comm. major at U of M is our only bad program and it's a joke (plus sorority girls are usually found in Communications or Psychology classes here). However, things have gotten much better, it seems like a few people have dropped the class and a number of people that are not me are contributing to the class (a problem I had with English 124 was 90% of class discussion was done by me) and some are cool like Sheika (I hope I spelled that right), she's a bit OCD like I am but she says it's "not the good kind", she said she can only go to sleep when the time is at a certain hour and minute. The only thing that I'm not happy with in this class is the 8-10 page paper due at the end of the semester.
Political Science 300 (Contemporary Political Issues): I was looking forward to this class and the first week and a half of it really sucked so I was really disappointed. But the last lesson has been good, we've finally worked our way to actual contemporary issues (the federal budget, boring to most, crack for Political junkies like me), I'm guessing that we just did our work on public service for something to work us into the class and give people something to prepare for. My discussion is almost unremarkable, the guy from my Pol Sci 101 discussion last fall is in it, which is a weird coincidence.
Psychology 122: Intergroup dialog is sooooo boring, and it's 2 hours long so it's even worse. Cool group of people though, really diverse.
