Happy Birthday, Oh-chan♥ Picspam 33!
To our beloved Ohno Satoshi: Happy, happy birthday!!! I can't believe you're already 33 years old.
To celebrate this special, special day I decided to look up my 33 most favourite Ohno pics and compile them into a post. Which was surprisingly hard since there are soooooooooo many pics I've come to love. However I somehow managed to limit myself and sorted them by theme so this is not too random :p
Baby Satoshi~
Can I flail a bit? If you leave aside the first photograph, you can already tell it's Ohno, even this young. He was just soooo cute♥ The look on the picture on the right! He can still look like that :)
I'd love to know what kind of child he was. Whether he was a bundle of joy or whether he drove his parents to the edge of reason? Did he bring home stray cats or rather strays worms he found in the garden? Did he have a teddy bear or another kind of plushie? Does he still have it? Did he cry on his first day of kindergarden? Did he play with building blocks or dolls? Did his Nee-chan protect him from bullies or did she pick on him? So many questions..........
Johnny's Jr.
I'm not entirely sure about the picture in the middle, but the other two are definitely from Ohno's Jr. days. I love how puffy his cheeks were. Cuuu~~te! The first pic must be pretty early, maybe even 1994 or 1995 :)
I wonder whether JE recorded the auditions back then... Imagine we could see tiny Ohno, waving at his kaa-chan but nevertheless showing his talent for dance and rhythm. Those few videos I saw of his dancing of that time show how great he was from the start. Good thing it kept him at Johnny's! And what an amazing singer he was and is, we all know...
Early Arashi
I think Ohno didn't age at all at the early years of Arashi. If his hairstyle didn't change, I could hardly date them at all. And although he so didn't want to debut, the look in his eyes soon changed from 'please not' to 'okay' to 'yes!'. In my opinion his acceptance of his fate grew at the same rate Arashi got closer to each other and grew to what they are now.
One of my favourite stories is how his mother waited for him every single night, even if he told her to just turn in because he'd be home late. Mothers are amazing, ne~
Arashi growing popular
Somehow I don't have much to say about the years Arashi gained national idol status~ That's probably because for me those years are so irrevocably linked to their variety shows (and I'll be posting about them below).
It was however this Ohno that I came to know first :) And I managed to tell him apart from the others because of his spiky hair. Btw, the most trouble I had with Sho and Aiba, they just looked the same to me at first *laughs*
Superidol~
Isn't he just... I can't even describe how hot Ohno has become. And he's so damn cute at the same time!
The photoshot the first pic belongs to had me giddy for a good two weeks (or longer, was too giddy to remember). As much as I love him with simple black hair, the blonde he wore 2011 suited him so, so much. The only thing that can top it (in recent history, because Maou-hair doesn't count here) is the wonderful auburn Kaibutsu-kun brought along. It was around that time that I started to seriously doubt my parents. Why? It is simply impossible that 2010 Ohno is older than me, so they must've forgotten to tell me something.
Variety
Just so you know, it's totally not my fault that the most epic episodes of Ohno's variety show life is so closely linked with one Ninomiya Kazunari. If I could I'd revive the old D no Arashi teams right away! And then send them around doing goofy stuff... Man, those were good days. But Mago Mago Arashi had so many heartwarming episodes as well. Not to forget those 2-5 minutes in the studio with all five of them. Like Ohno talking about his first love. Ohno and Nino deciding to elope to an uninhibited island. Sho declaring he loves catching glimpses of panties *lol at that forever*
I think the best about all those shows was that although Arashi was growing in popularity, they weren't popular enough for golden time yet and instead had their late night shows where they could do whatever they wanted. Aah, I just remembered how they hid the alarm clock in Jun's pants...
I don't think I'll ever stop missing Shukudai-kun with Ogu-san and the couches :( I laughed myself stupid at that show!
VsArashi is for me always a solid guarantee for 45mins fun and smiling and often there are even slightly epic moments :) My favourite game is Kicking Sniper but I like most of them. I cannot wait for the week after next (--> b/c Chinen Yuuri will be guesting!!!)
Although Shiyagare cannot compare to Shukudai-kun, there have been lots of great episodes. Personally I think that the power-up did the show much good, it has become much funnier. But I don't really need the Ii mise, kudoi mise-corner...
Tsuribaka
Okay, I'll confess. I always thought fishing is an extremely boring hobby for people with boringness written all over them. Maybe you thought so too. But since Ohno spends his time talking about fishing (since he can't go as often as he'd like apparently) I see a certain change in me. Had I looked at a fishing magazine a few years ago, I'd've scrunched up my nose (or ignored it right from the beginning). Now I can't help giggling. Whenever he rambles about it on radio, I giggle. When I see him at concerts miming to fish, I giggle. I'm a giggling mess and because of fishes! Thank you, Ohno!
I still haven't decided what to make out of Ohno lying about liking fishing in the first years (i.e. before 2008). And all that talk about his skin colour, managers scolding him, Jun begging him... But when Nino blurted out that Ohno puts on make-up to make his face look even darker than it already is, I laughed out loud.
Girl!Ohno
Before there was the pretty, pretty Satoko, Ohno had already proved that he's not aversed to crossdressing at all. Okay, two out of these three are cosplay but the last wasn't. And no one will ever be able to convince me that he wasn't totally enjoying himself flirting to that guy...
As fair as Queen Sho was and as easily as Nino could crossdress, they somehow lack something Ohno has.
And just to mention it: I'm still not over him looking prettier as Satoko than I will ever be able to look *sob*
Ohno the actor
I admit that I like Maou not so much for the dorama itself but for three other things: 1) the Maou hair (and apparently he cut and dyed it himself! kyaa!) 2) the fake Nisshin-CM prank Arashi played on him and 3) the Ohmiya scene in episode 1.
Uta no Onii-san is still my favourite Ohno dorama, I don't know why myself. Maybe it's because of Ohno's potty mouth? The cute costumes? The adorable Maru? The crazy prince? Or all combined? However, there hasn't been a year I haven't watched it at least twice...
I had no room for a Kaibutsu-kun pic *gomen!* I took a while to warm up to that show but then I totally loved it :) How can Ohno be so cute? The sulk, the pout, the sulky pout - now we know he trained all those years for that role!
Last but not least, KagiHeya! I'm pretty excited for the SP to be honest. I really hope we'll finally learn a bit more about Enomoto (but not everything... that would be boring as well). And I'd totally love a season 2. Has any Arashi member save J ever had a season 2 with any dorama? Hmm, I cannot recall anything...

Personally I enjoy the offshot-photographs the most (like the one on the right). Not that I don't like them posing but the offshots show us a rarer look behind the scenes. And since there're no longer any making-of's :(
