Pixels fishing: the best part of my day

Nov 02, 2010 18:42

I am having a Not Good Day--not quite a Bad Day, but definitely Not Good--for no particular reason at all. I've spent the entire day feeling aimlessly pitiful and wanting to cry. Mostly, I stare at an open Word document for several minutes at a stretch, then check on my Godfinger All-Stars phone app.

Oh come on, Mort lacks a lot of the character of the later books. It's Death-centric, but so is Soul Music, and that is infinitely better.

Also, OMG LOL AT FICTION ALLEY. Thank fuck I left that place years ago.

Plus Soul Music has the fairly more marketable female Susan instead of Mort who I just keep picturing as the skinny guy from Ratatouille.

And an Oscar-bait soundtrack built right into the premise.

DUDE - how could I have possibly forgotten that. Seriously Music with Rocks in needs to be on the Oscars.

I wish they made a good Susan, seriously. But after the whole "Rapunzel is being renamed Tangled because little boys don't watch Princess films", the male-centric Mort seems appealing to Disney execs. Also, I can now totally see him as the Ratatouille guy XD

See, that's probably the reason Mort is more appealing. What's better than a Sorcerer's Apprentice? Death's Apprentice! And if Mort gets to be a Linguini sort-of expy, all the better.

I think Disney would be much better suited for a Maurice and his Educated Rodents movie, honestly.

Hogfather will forever be my favorite Death book. I have yet to see the movie they made for it.

SEE IT RIGHT THIS INSTANT IT IS WONDERFUL. I think Michelle Dockery was secretly grown in an underground BBC laboratory somewhere for the sole purpose of playing Susan.

See, I was disappointed by the Sky adaptations and didn't even bother with Making Money. The characters are off to me and they lack the spark and wit of the books. Obviously YMMV, but yeah, I found them flat and dull.

They did plod a bit, but I managed to overlook the mediocre direction for Hogfather because everything else was so good.

Re: The Mouse doing Mort
I thought Pratchett had no intention of letting Disney get their slimy mitts on any of his stories. Seriously, they will ruin it!
