After Godzilla: Final Wars (which was awesome and involved a sort of Matrix meets Independence Day meets X-Men and let-me-dazzle-you-bitch Jpop vibe), in which the American Godzilla got it's badly made and spinally incorrect ass beaten through the Sydney Opera House in a battle sequence that lasted all of FIVE SECONDS, and which gained Godzilla himself a standing ovation from the audience at the screening I attended -

You'd think Warner Brothers would learn.

(p.s. I don't think of the fate of the American Godzilla in that movie as a spoiler. Every monster in a Godzilla movie tends to get its ass thoroughly kicked by Godzilla himself. It's what he does. It was also the shortest Godzilla combat sequence I think I've ever seen, which also says something.)

I loved the fact that American Godzilla (named by the film-makers as Zilla, because there's nothing godlike about it) was the only cgi monster in that movie. That movie is a thing of beauty.

Yes. That was just the best part. Hands down.

I love and adore that movie, the more so because I saw it not half an hour after sitting through Godzilla vs Hedorah.

Hedorah's involvement is the only part of Godzilla: Final Wars I found disappointing. They created such an awesome suit for him--and he gets killed two seconds after he appears. Still, my favorite monster Gigan got not one but two awesome new suits, so it all evens out.

I adore your icon. That said, yes. I agree on both counts. Not only that, Hedorah had to share his screen time! How fair is that?

Gigan's suits were both so very, very awesome.

honestly, I;m stoked for a new American Godzilla movie. Sure, it might suck and hard--but it's a new Godzilla movie! And surely this time they've learned their lesson.

My only concern is that they might compensate too much and whip all the way around to where we'll get a "fan film" along the lines of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. And that's almost worse than a movie by someone who doesn't "get it."
