Sophie Okonedo as Nancy? Hells to the yes!

And BITCH STEP AWAY FROM NO HEROICS. Srsly, we need to stop remaking British series. Take it from the success of "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" and the utter failure of "Coupling"- it doesn't work!!!!

Agreed! I am a total Anglophile and I was completely horrified to find that they are remaking SO many things! It needs to stop!

If I recall correctly they are trying to fuck with AbFab too....

I've heard rumors about that for years. I even thought that they had already done it in a way by churning out some tripe with a completely different name. I don't know, I was without TV for a few years, so I could be wrong.

I've also heard that they want to remake Father Ted. The whole premise was so off the wall, that I seriously hope it was a joke.

That production of Oliver Twist is really good. Sophie Okonedo is a brilliant Nancy and Timothy Spall has a very interesting take on Fagin which really works well. I'd also recommend trying to find the production done for ITV back in 1999 with Andy Serkis as Sykes, Robert Lindsay as Fagin, Marc Warren as Monks and Emily Woof as Nancy. It's also pretty awesome and my personal favourite but the BBC version is a very close second.
