So. I didn't get the quiet evening alone I wanted--I realized too late that the church music program my parents were going to (my stepfather plays drums) only lasted two hours; for some reason, I'd thought they'd be out a lot longer. And Lord knows you can't watch The Dark Knight in only two hours.* But the day itself went off quietly and without ( Read more... )

Can I just say that the DVD extras bite?

they were a MAJOR letdown. I did appreciate the anatomy of chaos extra. I liked that one.

But there should've been much more, especially for a movie on that scale. Very little insight to its creation.

I kept wondering if they hadn't wanted to use any behind-the-scenes footage of Heath Ledger or do any kind of commentary where they'd have to talk about him. Christopher Nolan and the cast seem to have been very sensitive about/wary of exploiting his memory--maybe that was it?

That, or maybe Warner Bros. is planning a double dip in the future? I can't remember what the Batman Begins extras were like for comparison, though.

According to this, Christopher Nolan doesn't really like DVD extras?

Yeah--sadly he doesn't like exactly the stuff I love (although I just like seeing actors horsing around and having fun; it's not so much that I want to laugh at their mistakes). And he doesn't ever have deleted scenes, okay, I understand that. But--he doesn't even want to do a commentary? I swear he's done them before! Think of the future filmmakers poring over these DVDs, Nolan! Think of the children.

(Sadly, this is more interesting than anything on the DVD.)

I have to say I was envisioning somebody older, and for some reason French-er, than Ben Barnes. Vincent Cassell maybe?

Oh my god that Celine Dion video was fantastic. And very, very convincing.

It probably goes without saying that I am *really* psyched for Watchmen right now.

I already put in for March 6 off. 35 minutes ago.

The bit with the truck never stops being awesome, does it?

(I haven't yet bought TDK on DVD, since I expect my sister will get it for me for Christmas)

Why is it that I'm never on the trains with conductors saying awesome things? I only get unintelligible nonsense.

I thought the Wolverine trailer was pretty great actually.

I'm saying. The most I ever get is the conductors cussing at us to stand clear of the f#$#ing doors.
