Okay, we're back. If you missed it due to the LJ outage (and you keep up with the Twi-spam), go back and read last night's Twilight premiere entry. It's a post where Cloverfield, Tyra, tomorrow night's South Park and an alternate-universe True Blood collide, let's put it that way. Also, the anti-Twilight commentfest is still going, so don't miss ( Read more... )

Nuh-UH, Entertainment Weekly. No. You are not getting away with that one. I wasn't one of the posters, but I definitely am now. *jaw agape at the blatant hypocrisy*

On another note, has anyone seen any reviews of this thing yet? Or are critics not allowed to release them until closer to Friday?

I suspect there's an embargo on professional reviews, yeah.

YES! That means it'll tank for sure.

That's not uncommon, though. Even good movies get press embargoes.

Hm, maybe things have changed. I just remember reading an article about how films that don't let critics have early viewings are much more likely to be ones that will tank. The logic being that if you give the critics an early viewing, they have time to write up a review for the film to make it onto the Friday paper.

Bad movies were notorious for keeping critics away in hopes that they won't get terrible reviews to scare away viewers.

Especially since RottenTomatoes has already gotten the Bolt reviews up.

(I should pay for LJ just to be able to edit comments. Grah)

Well, there's a difference between "We'll show you the movie but don't publish the reviews until the day of release" and "We're not screening the movie for anyone, pay to see it with everyone else, sucks for your deadline." You get the latter with most low-budget horror movies, for example.
