Let me not bury the lede on this one: THERE ARE THIRTY (30) COLORS AND YOU CAN GET THEM HERE, INDIVIDUALLY OR AS A SET, AS FULL SIZES OR $1 SAMPLES.

We started in March when I started talking about Aromaleigh eyeshadows with Freddie at Tattle-Crime.com, who (being far more intrepid than I am) bounced up to Kristen on Twitter and asked if she ( Read more... )

Aw, I don't know about that (but thank you!). Genuinely, so much of this was Kristen talking an idea over with us, maybe a name or a general concept, and coming back a few days later with some amazing, fully-formulated color.

Reckoning looks/sounds like it's similar to one of my favorite colors of Kristen's from a zillion years ago, Swoon. I've been picking up samples here and there as they've come out and I've had money (and I still need to swatch nearly all of them...), but since it's on sale right now and I really need to buy more foundation I suspect I'm gonna get a full sample set in the next few days.

I would not have expected that I'd get so enthusiastic about makeup inspired by a TV show*, but this has been really fun. Thanks to all of you for this wonderful effort. I can only imagine how much fun it was to work on.

*Of course part of this is because I already have so much eye shadow, most of it from AL, that the jars fill up an entire three-drawer desktop chest AND a coffee-pod storage rack, and the samples fill three binders. Ahem. So getting me to buy more with this collection has been a truly sterling achievement.

omg, I've been looking for something to use for sample binders. Where did you get them. omg. I desperately need to reorganize my jars and samples after the influx of V2 colors.

Okay, I have an embarrassingly large folder of pictures and descriptions from the original site BECAUSE I NEED TO SORT AND CATEGORIZE MY STASH, OKAY, but I can't find which one Swoon was from. There are a number of colors that were before my time, admittedly.

It's been so much fun! Also, I loved doing graphics (probably too many) because it was like doing puzzles, matching colors and arranging the pictures just right. Very relaxing, actually.

Samples: I use vinyl display/storage pages for old-fashioned film slides that are designed to go in 3-ring binders; they have 20 pockets per page and the pockets fit sample envelopes just about perfectly. This was a suggestion Kristen posted on the V1 blog ages ago, though the original suggestion might have come from the old forum. At the time I started organizing mine, the only place I could find the pages easily was the Staples website; I checked a couple years ago and couldn't find them anymore. Specialty photography supply/archiving vendors likely still have them but they're a lot more expensive.

Swoon was from the original Midsummer Night's Dream collection, which I think was discontinued in 2007 or so. It's a deep charcoal base with an interesting rosy-red tone and gold highlight. I actually gave away jars of it as gifts to other people, I loved it so much.

And if it helps any, I have checklists listing every shade from V1 by collection and by color (and many of the collections from V2) that include descriptions and track ( ... )

Everything is so beautiful... I much prefer makeup when it's on other people's faces (just don't like how it feels on my skin), but The Power Of Fandom combined with The Power Of Pretty Colours make me want to own every colour and put them all over my face. Only it's never gonna happen, because no shipping to Russia, and, well, I have no money anyway. But I still can appreciate and admire it - platonically, so to speak. And hope that someday soon there'll photos of fannibals using it for cosplay, so I'll see how it looks like on actual humans (or ravenstags).

I really need to see some cosplay Ravenstags wearing it; I'm guessing it would make a great staggy lip color.

I'm planning to do a Ravenstag for a con next year and I'll definitely be using the eye shadow with it. I'm in the early stages of detailing the outfit but I knew that would be part of it from the start.

I'm planning to Wendigo at this year's zombie walk - think when he took the stand at Will's trial. I'm in the process of making myself some antlers. Ravenstag would be perfect for the make-up I want to do, along with Reckoning for bruise/decay details.

So what the hell, I'm going all in on getting the entire collection. :D

If I lived in the States, I'd probably get samples of Reckoning, Persuasion, Lucid and Lapse, which came out after my sister came back from the States with the 17 (!) samples I ordered. I really wish Bellissima was vegan, or vegetarian, because it's such a pretty color. I'm still going through them all, a lot of them come out pretty similar on me (Gotcha, Abbatoir, Ripper...) and unfortunately it comes out mostly pink (I'm pink by nature). I once did the Murder Tie with a wet brush and ended up with one eye more blue and the other more pink (it was barely noticeable, but amusing). Still sorting through the samples and trying to find what works best with my complexion and dark eyes, but it's been fun trying them all out and it's so awesome that you were a part in creating a makeup line (you could say... It was your design).

Also that title makes me think of...
