CLEISTHENES TOP TEN CLEISTHENES TOP TEN CLEISTHENES TOP TEN
-Flaming Lips- in 1994 for the Transmissions from the Satellite Heart Tour (Had a bubble machine)
-Legendary Pink Dots- 1998 St. Theatre 5 hits of acid. Twilight Circus opens. Ryan Moore speaks to John Glenn who just went back into space. Also plays a theremin.
Download- 1995 Twilight Circus Opens. Ryan Moore alternates playing guitar, drums and keyboard. Then Ryan joins Download on stage, so he and Cevin Key are each drumming(seperate drum sets) and Mark Spybey is playing toys fed through distortion and Phil Western is mixing beats and samples and holding it all together.
-Ether Festival (Matmos, Cyclobe, Ikue Mori, Zeena Parkins) London Queen Elizebeth Royal festival hall- Naked buttocks getting slapped, electric harp playing, being 4 feet from Steven Thrower ex member of Coil. Wow
-Meat Beat Manifesto w/Dalek- I'd heard Jack Dangers put on a hell of a show, but nothing could have prepared me...
-Legendary Pink Dots w/Dead Voices on Air
-Noise festival at the Vulture Tower- holy crap this was amazing. Getting heckled by frat boys, Dreamhouse setting stuff on fire, someone in a gorilla suit chasing around someone dressed like a robot and smacking him with a stick.
-Scematic 10 year anniversary- Miami-Otto Von Schirach, 000, Dino Felipe, Hearts of Darknesses
-Front 242- 2005 The first time I saw them, they sucked. I was really reluctant to give them another shot, but am glad I did.
-Jaaaaaamie Lidell
Honorable mentions go to the lead singer of Machines of Loving Grace for swinging out into the crowd Tarzan style and being caught by the audience, and the rest of the band for throwing their instuments at each other. Maybe thats why they broke up.
Ween in 99- Soooo many Titties. I can't believe there were so many. It was like Woodstock. Weenstock. They violated the noise curfew and were unplugged on by one culminating with the drummer doing a 10 minute solo while suited business types were trying to give him the wrap it up signal.
Fronline Assembly in Atlanta in 97 or 98. Don't remember much. I think I took 8 extacy pills, so if I had seen a hobo playing a jaw harp, he probably would have made the honorable mention list as well.
